3 Dead After Chilling Tragedy Near Air Force Base

A shocking triple death linked to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base has left a quiet Ohio community stunned.

Authorities say Jacob Prichard, 34, a base employee, went on a violent spree late Oct. 24 after breaking into the apartment of 1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus in Sugarcreek Township, about 18 miles south of the base.

Police told WDTN that Prichard killed Gustitus, who lived alone, though they have not yet disclosed exactly how she died.

After leaving the apartment, Prichard murdered his 33-year-old wife, Jaymee, before turning the gun on himself in the parking lot of the West Milton Municipal Building, according to investigators.

Officers found Prichard dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 25. His wife’s body was discovered in the open trunk of their car nearby.

Authorities said the three knew one another through their work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, but the nature of those connections remains unclear.

Base officials confirmed all three deaths in a statement. Prichard and Gustitus both worked in divisions of the Air Force Research Laboratory, while Jaymee was employed at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected. We stand with them as they navigate this unimaginable pain, and we offer our sincerest condolences to all impacted by this heartbreaking loss,” said Lt. Gen. Linda Hurry, Deputy Commander of Air Force Materiel Command.

“We are committed to fully investigating this incident and ensuring the families and co-workers of the victims receive the support they need during this difficult time.”

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the probe with help from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and local police.

The small town of West Milton, about 20 miles north of Dayton, is now grappling with the aftermath of a tragedy that appears to have begun behind closed doors and ended in public view.
