WATCH: James Carville Loses It On ‘Stupid’ Pundits For Focusing On Trump Polls

Just before Election Day, Democratic strategist James Carville unleashed a fiery tirade against media pundits, taking particular issue with those he claimed are overly focused on former President Donald Trump’s poll numbers. Carville, a longtime Democratic operative, expressed his disdain for the current state of political coverage, which he believes is too balanced and overly focused on Trump’s base.

Opening his rant on Politicon’s YouTube channel, Carville praised the Democrats’ current coalition as “an expanded Democratic coalition that runs all the way from Dick Cheney to AOC.” Carville then quickly pivoted to bash what he called the “truth-teller caucus,” accusing journalists of hiding behind objectivity to avoid what he sees as an obvious threat from Trump. “The entire fundamental idea of what the United States is, is at risk, and it is the duty of every person that loves the Constitution and loves the country to step forward,” he said.

Carville’s words struck a particularly negative tone toward anyone seeking to maintain a neutral stance in today’s political climate. He dismissed those striving for fair reporting as “the warmest, slimiest people” in the media, mocking their approach to covering both sides of the aisle. “These people are so f*cking stupid and so victims of idiotic tunnel vision of what they are and their own exaggerated sense of fairness.” he fumed, seemingly unaware of the irony in his own extreme stance.

The rant comes amid widespread concerns that Democrats have been losing ground in crucial swing states, with polling indicating a potential shift toward Trump. However, Carville’s response was less about addressing those concerns and more focused on attacking the media for not taking an outright anti-Trump stance. The strategist criticized media outlets for what he views as a senseless obsession with polling averages and diner interviews, caricaturing voters as ignorant for caring about issues like “the price of eggs.”

Carville even mocked centrists—those who seek compromise between parties—as “stupid” and suffering from “tunnel vision,” suggesting that they lack the “intestinal fortitude” to report on what he considers the dire threat posed by Trump. “You actually hear this kind of [stuff]. You actually hear this,” he ranted, demeaning those who believe that voters deserve a balanced portrayal of events.

Carville also used an extreme historical analogy to mock the media’s commitment to neutrality, suggesting that this kind of “both sides” approach is inappropriate when dealing with moral issues. “If we express slavery is wrong, we have to acknowledge that there are many people that we talked to in Mississippi and Louisiana in 1858 that thought that slavery was just nifty,” he claimed.

Nicknamed the “Ragin’ Cajun” for his colorful, passionate speaking style and Louisiana roots, Carville gained national fame as the lead strategist for Bill Clinton’s successful 1992 presidential campaign. Carville has worked with liberal candidates and campaigns both in the U.S. and internationally.

With Election Day just hours away, voters will soon decide if the Democrat’s ideological purity test aligns with the values of the country.
