WATCH: CNN Reveals ‘Many’ Voters In Virginia Are Casting Ballots For Trump In Secret

A CNN reporter on the ground in one crucial Virginia community said she has spoken with “many” Trump voters who have kept their support for the former president a total secret.

Reporting from Burke, Virginia, a noontime CNN correspondent divulged her conversations with voters exiting their local polling places who quietly admitted casting their ballots for former President Donald Trump, a significant development in the liberal electorate of Fairfax County. An area that voted for President Joe Biden four years ago by a more than two-to-one margin is now showing signs of competition. “There were many who said they were planning to vote for Trump or they had voted for Trump. However, when it came to sharing their views on camera, they didn’t want to, [with] one woman saying she worked in the Army. Her coworkers assume she’s voting Democrat. She didn’t want to be on television saying that she was voting otherwise,” said the correspondent.

Another woman “said she just didn’t want her neighbors and friends to know that she had decided to vote Trump,” the CNN reporter added.

Despite maintaining an average lead of 7 points, Vice President Harris has reason to worry that Virginia might not be an easy get in her column. Virginia’s Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin won a critical victory at the U.S. Supreme Court, which allowed his administration to purge thousands of voters from the rolls who officials suspected were ineligible. Even Harris’s once-robust polling lead has narrowed: one poll last week showed her leading Trump by just a single point, 49% to 48%. Add into the mix Hung Cao, a former Navy SEAL and darling Republican Senate candidate, and Virginia Republicans have a formidable ticket that could show success Tuesday night.

The fear of a secret Trump-voting portion of the electorate has raised alarm in some Democratic circles. In Pennsylvania, allies of Vice President Harris have publicly criticized her turnout operation in Philadelphia while the Trump campaign has won plaudits for its targeting of Hispanic and Latino communities in other cities like Reading. Tuesday morning exit polls hint at other battleground counties around the country trending toward Trump, including Duval County, Florida, and Maricopa County, Arizona, both of which went for Biden in 2020,

Today, voters in both locations cite persistently high prices and illegal immigration among their top concerns, both issues ripe for Trump to leverage. As undecided voters break his way, pollsters say they are seeing a depressed early-voting advantage among Democratic-leaning urban and female voters across the most hotly-contested seven swing states, results that Trump spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt crowed about on X over the weekend.
