WATCH: Washington Post Live Host Loses It Amid Promising Night For Trump: ‘I Am Mystified’
Washington Post contributor Jonathan Capehart had an absolute meltdown during PBS’ live election coverage as the results swung wildly in the favor of former President Donald Trump.
“I mean, there’s a shift right, and then there’s a shift to Trump and shifting to Trumpism. And you know, I’m looking at a lot of things, especially after David talked about looking at counties and, you know, how Trump is gaining on what he did in 2020,” Capehart began. “Uh… I’m mystified in some ways uh… simply because we’re talking about the twice impeached, four times indicted, convicted on thirty-four felony counts former president.”

Capehart — who has a habit of crying on live TV — appeared to be on the verge of tears once again as he continued his monologue. “Uh… somewhat that’s one bucket then in another bucket you have all of the things he’s been saying on the campaign trail that gets to the decency that the woman was talking about in that last report, and how she wanted to vote for Vice President Harris, has been she didn’t like that Madison Square Garden rally. I am just, I am mystified that despite all of that, he’s gaining support compared to 2020.”
“And it gets back to something I said earlier at some point, one of the hours ago, that who are we as a country? And we’re starting to find out. And from what I’m seeing right now, I’m not sure I like it.”
A little before 1 a.m. Eastern Time, Harris Campaign co-chair Cedric Richmond addressed the dwindling crowd at the Harris-Walz campaign headquarters at Howard University and announced that Vice President Harris was not going to be speaking tonight. “So you won’t hear from the Vice President tonight, but you will hear from her tomorrow. She will be back here tomorrow to address not only the HU family, not only to address her supporters, but to address the nation,” he said.
While the race has not been called officially yet, Trump is up by more than 100,000 votes in Pennsylvania, which will officially seal the presidential election.
