Harris Staffer Calls On Biden To Resign So Kamala Can Be President For A Few Weeks
A former senior aide to Vice President Kamala Harris is floating a wild plot that would have President Biden resign so Harris could get to be president for a few weeks.
Jamal Simmons, who served as part of Harris’ team from 2022 until 2023, urged President Biden to step down so that she could become the first female president, even though she was just soundly defeated at the ballot box.
“Joe Biden has been amazing but he should fulfill one last promise – to be transitional. Biden should resign and make Kamala Harris the first woman president,” Simmons wrote in an X post. “It’d turn [the] tables on Trump, keep Kamala from presiding over Jan. 6 make it easier for next woman to run.”

“Dems have better policies but we must realize the old rules no longer apply. We are not playing table tennis. We are in a mixed martial arts fight and Americans respond to drama and excitement,” the former Harris aide added in a follow-up post. “We should use that to make our arguments for a better path forward.”
Simmons was undeterred by overwhelmingly mockery in response to his suggestion and proceeded to double down during an appearance on CNN.
“Joe Biden has been a phenomenal president. He’s lived up to so many of the promises he’s made. There’s one promise left that he could fulfill, being a transitional figure. He could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris the president of the United States,” he said, drawing shocked expressions from his fellow panelists and a laugh from conservative CNN contributor Scott Jennings.
“He would absolve her from being able to, from having to oversee the January 6 transition, right, of her own defeat. And it would make sure that it would dominate the news at a point where Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and doing things that the public want to see is a time, this is the moment for us to change the entire perspective of how Democrats operate,” Simmons added.
“This has jumped from an internet meme to a Sunday morning show,” said CNN’s Dana Bash in response to the wild suggestion, while Jennings suggested that Simmons should be a writer for House of Cards. Bash also noted that some Democrats have been calling on Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to resign so that Democrats can confirm a replacement before they lose control of the Senate.
“Well, the Supreme Court might happen. I don’t know if it will, but I think this is something that’s in Joe Biden’s control. And if he did it, it would, again, it will fulfill his promise, his last promise. It would give Kamala Harris the chance to be the 47th president of the United States of America. It would disrupt all of Donald Trump’s paraphernalia, right?” Simmons continued.
“He’d have to rebrand everything. But she would, and it would make it easier for the next woman who runs for president to not have to worry about all the historical weight of being the first.”
