Television personality Chris Cuomo has disclosed that he opted not to support either of the main presidential candidates in the 2024 election. Instead, Cuomo cast his vote for his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, in what he described as a symbolic write-in choice. In an interview with Patrick Bet-David, Cuomo was asked about his voting decision, given his outspoken stance on American politics and his complex relationship with both major parties.

“For you as a big Trump supporter yourself, were you happy with the results?” Bet-David joked. Cuomo responded, “I was happy that there was a definitive quick result. I am not a fan.” The former CNN host then went on to shock Bet-David when asked directly about who he voted for.

“I probably shouldn’t tell you, but I can tell you who I voted for. You want to know? Yeah. I voted for my brother,” Cuomo admitted. When Bet-David, incredulous, asked for clarification, Cuomo doubled down, saying, “I wrote him in.”

In the course of the conversation, Cuomo confirmed that he had even taken a photo as proof of his write-in vote, though he quickly acknowledged the potential legality issues with doing so. “No, because I think it might have been illegal that I took a picture. Let’s just pretend it never happened,” Cuomo said, lightheartedly showing a family picture instead.

Cuomo’s decision to vote for his brother over Vice President Kamala Harris was particularly revealing of his views on the 2024 race. “But why don’t you vote for Kamala?” Bet-David pressed. Cuomo’s answer reflected his general dissatisfaction with the choices. “Listen, I’m not a Trump fan, okay? And I’m not a Democrat. I think this country can do better,” he stated.

“America can do better than these two candidates,” he claimed.

He further elaborated on his perspective regarding Trump’s movement, acknowledging its significant influence on American politics while emphasizing that he wasn’t personally aligned with it. “I think the movement behind Trump is very real. It’s been disrespected, and I think that’s problematic for America,” Cuomo observed. However, he also reiterated his stance against the polarization he sees in the current political climate.

Cuomo explained that, while he isn’t critical of those who support Trump, he believes that American democracy should strive for better representation at the highest levels of government. “To me, I just believe the choices are beneath the standard of American leadership. I think we have way better people to pick from,” he said.

As the interview concluded, Cuomo expressed a sense of detachment from both political parties, stating, “I’m not a Trump fan, okay? And I’m not a Democrat.”

Cuomo currently hosts “CUOMO,” a prime-time news program on NewsNation, which airs weeknights. Cuomo was a prominent anchor at CNN, hosting “Cuomo Prime Time” from 2018 until his departure in 2021.
