JUST IN: Trump Announces Another Major Addition To His White House Team
On Friday, President-elect Donald Trump made announcements for two more members to his White House staff, promoting the spokesman for his presidential campaign, Steven Cheung, to assistant to the president and director of communications. Trump also announced that Sergio Gor will be on the team, serving as the director of the presidential personnel office.
According to Fox News, Gor, who is a business associate of the president-elect’s son, Donald Trump Jr., was placed in charge of the pro-Trump PAC known as Right For America and did some work at one time within GOP Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul’s office.
“Steven Cheung and Sergio Gor have been trusted Advisors since my first Presidential Campaign in 2016, and have continued to champion America First principles throughout my First Term, all the way to our HIstoric Victory in 2024,” Trump went on to say in a statement concerning his announcements. “I am thrilled to have them join my White House, as we Make America Great Again!”
Trump Jr. posted on X, “Awesome news. Sergio will be great!”
When reflecting back on his first term, the president-elect has stated several times that the biggest mistake he made was choosing people for his administration who were disloyal.
“The biggest mistake I made was I picked some people – I picked some great people, you know, but you don’t think about that. I picked some people that I shouldn’t have picked,” Trump remarked last month during an interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “I picked a few people that I shouldn’t have picked,” he added.
The president-elect has also picked, among others, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., to be U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., for national security adviser and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., for secretary of state. Tesla CEO and billionaire endorser Elon Musk and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy are expected to lead Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency.
Trump also tapped Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) to be his next attorney general and campaign surrogate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
The Florida congressman has already resigned from the House of Representatives after receiving his nomination to be the Attorney General.
“The resignation — which was announced hours after Gaetz received the attorney general nod — was described by Johnson as a way to speed up the process of filling the House Republican’s seat to lessen the impacts of being one member down in the narrow GOP majority next year,” the report said.
