‘We’re Coming’: Steve Bannon Hints At Major Legal Consequences For ‘Corrupt’ Democrat Officials

Steve Bannon, the bombastic former Trump advisor who just weeks ago left prison after serving a sentence for contempt of Congress, is warning “corrupt” Democratic officials that the president-elect and his team are “coming” for them on his first day in office.

Whether journalists or judges, “we’re coming for you,” Bannon declared on a recent episode of “War Room.” Specifically, he targeted the latter category, casting the nation’s nexus of federal justices as intent on throwing as many J6 defendants as possible behind bars. “What you did in that D.C. courtroom and what you [were] allowed to do to these J6 people and send them to prison… Bennie Thompson, you’re corrupt, Liz Cheney, you’re corrupt. Preserve your documents, because we’re coming after you,” he promised.

Thompson (D-MS) and Cheney were both tasked with investigating the January 6th, 2021 riots at the Capitol building as part of a select congressional committee whose findings were ultimately used by the Justice Department to imprison hundreds of participants. A subsequent ruling by the Supreme Court has contributed to the overturning of many sentences, and President-elect Donald Trump has assured those still in prison that he will likely give them full pardons upon taking office. On Monday, special counsel Jack Smith moved to dismiss Trump’s own J6 case, telling Judge Tanya Chutkan that the government will respect its longstanding policy of not prosecuting incoming or sitting presidents.

“You people are criminals, and you put people that didn’t have the money to defend themselves, you put them in prison and you destroyed their lives and you tried to break them. You’ve got a seventy-year-old Gold Star mother in a prison in Colorado right now, okay, on totally made-up charges. You people are revolting, and Damian Williams and Jack Smith, you can quit. Andrew Weissmann, you can run wherever you’re gonna run. The long arm of the law is going to track you down, and you’re going to be held accountable,” warned Bannon.

Bannon himself was released from prison less than two weeks before Election Day after serving four months for defying a congressional subpoena. The “War Room” host is now back in play for a Trump administration that is seeking loyal advisors to push through a MAGA agenda more forcefully than during the Republican’s first four years in office, and it remains to be seen whether Bannon will continue with his show or take an official role in the White House. The two have reportedly patched up their relationship since Bannon was fired during Trump’s first term.

The prosecution of the president-elect’s former number-one advisor is not over. Bannon still faces criminal charges in New York state where prosecutors allege he orchestrated a scheme to accept donations from Americans seeking to privately fund a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. Prosecutors argue that the funds were never directed to wall construction and were instead spent on other priorities at Bannon’s discretion. He has pleaded not guilty to money laundering, conspiracy, and fraud, among other charges. That trial is set to begin in December.
