The lunchtime buzz at a popular Palm Beach restaurant turned political onlookers into armchair detectives when Todd Blanche, one of President-elect Donald Trump’s top attorneys, was spotted dining with CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins.

Blanche, who has been at the forefront of Trump’s legal defense team and is to be deputy attorney general in Trump’s administration, and Collins, a vocal critic of the former president through her role on CNN, appeared deep in conversation over lunch.

Blanche served as Trump’s lead attorney during his trial on charges of falsifying business records which related to a hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels. While neither Blanche nor Collins has commented on the meeting, the optics alone have set off speculation.

Earlier this year, Collins interviewed Blanche following Trump’s conviction in the hush money trial, where they discussed the trial’s proceedings and Trump’s behavior during the case. Additionally, Collins questioned Blanche about the defense strategy and the decision not to have Trump testify.

“We were indicted for conduct that happened in 2015, 16, 17, in a jurisdiction where it was very hard for us to get a fair trial,” Blanche told Collins at the time.

Political analysts have noted that such seemingly improbable meetings are not unheard of but rarely go unnoticed.

For now, the purpose of the meeting remains a mystery, leaving pundits and the public to debate whether the conversation was professional, personal, or something else entirely.
