WATCH: Trump Accepts ‘Patriot Of The Year’ Award, Gets Roaring Applause
President-elect Donald Trump roused an exuberant crowd of conservatives Thursday night as he accepted Fox Nation’s “Patriot of the Year” award, swaying to the tunes of Lee Greenwood as he brought down the house.
The annual ceremony, now in its sixth year, saw the Republican leader recognized alongside others who the network singles out for their work on behalf of veterans, culture war issues, police, young conservatives, and more. Trump’s appearance breathed new life into a ceremony that didn’t draw much attention beyond devoted Fox viewers as MAGA allies in the new media quickly shared clips of him basking in the spotlight while Lee Greenwood literally sang his praises. The patriotic artist delivered a crowd-pleasing rendition of “God Bless the USA,” his 1984 classic. Smiling, President-elect Trump waved his hands at his side, joining crowd members who either did the same or pulled out their phones to film the iconic moment.

In his remarks, President-elect Trump doubled down on his campaign promises to close the border, fix the economy, and create jobs. “We’re going to get things straightened out in this country,” he said, Fox News reported. “We had just a spectacular election. They were thinking it was going to be close, and it wasn’t close. We’re going to achieve it again and very fast. It’s going to be very fast because we have no choice. But we’re going to do something that I’ve been talking about for eight years. We’re going to do it again. We have to do it again. We’re going to make America great again.”
The Fox News Patriot Awards are described by the network as a “night to bridge political gaps, unite behind a love of America and celebrate America’s everyday heroes.” Other categories include “T2T Stephen Siller Back the Blue Award,” “Young Patriot,” “Salute to Service,” “FOX Weather Ultimate Patriot,” “Service to Veterans,” “Culture Warrior,” “Bravery” and “Courage.”
President-elect Trump, who probably could have easily won in every category, is capping off a historic and unpredictable year with the awards ceremony. He survived two assassination attempts and four criminal indictments to win the White House again, becoming only the second president to do so non-consecutively. His promise to install loyalists at a Justice Department that has long targeted him is leading President Joe Biden and staff to consider preemptive pardons of Liz Cheney, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and others who they believe Trump may try to prosecute. Those discussions follow Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter, one that drew swift bipartisan condemnations and a fresh promise by Trump to pardon the J6 prisoners.
