Chuck Norris Announces Tragic News
Martial artist and actor Chuck Norris took to social media on Wednesday to share the news of his mother’s passing, describing her as a source of strength, faith, and inspiration in his life. The announcement offered a rare glimpse into the personal life of the action star, known for his toughness on screen but often private about family matters.
In an Instagram post, Norris wrote, “Wednesday morning, my brother Aaron and I’s wonderful mother went home to be with Jesus.” He highlighted her deep faith, calling her “a beacon of light” and attributing much of his character to the values she instilled.
Norris recounted how his mother’s love and compassion influenced his upbringing, teaching him the importance of kindness and serving others. He spoke of her as a figure of stability and faith, whose presence brought comfort and joy to their home. “From my earliest memories, she taught me the importance of kindness and compassion,” Norris shared. “I am so thankful for the countless lessons she shared and the way she embodied the love of Christ every day.”
Wilma Norris was 103.

In a tribute published in May 2021, Norris celebrated his mother on her 100th birthday. Born in 1921 in Wilson, Oklahoma, Wilma faced significant hardships, including being a ward of the state at age 8 due to a rare disease and enduring the Great Depression, during which her family picked cotton to survive.
Married at 16, she was later left to raise her three sons alone. Wilma survived cancer multiple times and underwent approximately 30 surgeries. She was the last surviving member of her 11-sibling family and has endured the loss of two husbands, a stepson, two grandchildren, and her son Wieland, who died in the Vietnam War.
Norris credited his mother’s unwavering prayers for guiding him through life’s challenges, including his near-death at birth and personal struggles during his Hollywood career. “Mom, I don’t know what’s more difficult to believe: that you are 100 years old or that you have a son who is 81 years old!” he wrote at the time.
In a later article from May 2023, Norris celebrated his mother’s 102nd birthday, expressing his gratitude for her vitality and the positive influence of the women in his life, including his grandmother and wife.
During a 2012 interview on ‘Huckabee’ at 91 years old, Wilma reflected on the challenges of raising three sons. “We were having a real rough time, you know, back then we were very poor,” Wilma said. “He always was like the man in the house because his father wasn’t there.”

From the age of 14, Chuck helped his mother manage bills and cared for his younger siblings while she worked nights.
Wilma also opened up about the challenges of her marriage to an abusive, alcoholic husband, a situation her sons encouraged her to leave. “They said, ‘Mom, if you’re living with Dad for us, don’t do it. We can’t take it anymore,’” Wilma recalled.
Through it all, Wilma leaned on her faith to guide her. “I kept them in church and Sunday school. I taught Sunday school, and we had our prayers all the time. Spiritual life was very important to me,” she explained. For Wilma, love and faith were at the heart of her parenting philosophy. “God didn’t give us our children—He only loaned them to us for a while.”
