WATCH: Taylor Lorenz Doubles Down, Says CEO’s Murder Brought Her ‘Joy’
Just hours after she was fired by Vox media over a number of social media posts in which she celebrated the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, disgraced journalist Taylor Lorenz doubled down on her statements in an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
Lorenz — who once burst into tears over what she referred to as “horrifying online harassment” directed against her — made several social media posts supporting the murder on the left-wing X/Twitter clone Bluesky. In one post, Lorenz posted a celebratory image with balloons and party favors alongside the words “CEO Down!”
“And people wonder why we want these executives dead,” Lorenz wrote in another post alongside an article about Blue Cross Blue Shield no longer covering anesthesia for the full length of some surgeries.

After backlash, the disgraced reporter doubled down on her posts, stating that she is “not alone.” Lorenz, who previously specialized in revealing the identities of anonymous online personalities, for the New York Times and the Washington Post, was fired from her current gig with the Vox Media podcasting network as a result of her comments on Monday.
Remaining defiant in the wake of her most recent firing, Lorenz once again attempted to justify her unhinged comments during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored.
“I do believe in the sanctity of life and I think that’s why I felt, along with so many other Americans, joy, unfortunately,” she said. “Joy? Seriously? Joy in a man’s execution?” Morgan followed up, to which Lorenz replied, “maybe not joy, but certainly not empathy.”

Morgan was visibly stunned by Lorenz’s callous reaction to a targeted murder. “We’re watching the footage. How can this make you joyful? This guy is a husband, he’s a father, and he’s being gunned down in the middle of Manhattan. Why is that making you joyful?” the host asked.
“So are the tens of thousands of Americans that are being murdered. So are the tens of thousands of Americans, innocent Americans, who died because greedy health insurance executives like this one push policies of denying care to the most vulnerable people. And I’m among the many millions of Americans that have watched people that I care about suffer and in some cases die because of lack of health care,” Lorenz replied, at which point Morgan asked whether additional killings of healthcare executives would make her more “joyful.”
With a smirk, Lorenz claimed that she was not calling for additional violence, contradicting numerous social media posts. “I think because… here it is. Because it doesn’t… it wouldn’t fix the system,” she said, adding that she found Morgan’s question “funny.”
“I don’t find it funny that tens of thousands of Americans die every year because they are denied life-saving health care from people like this CEO. Now, I want to fix this system. You’re right. We shouldn’t be going around shooting each other with vigilante justice,” Lorenz went on to say before once again justifying her comments.
“I think that it is a good thing that this murder has led to America, really the media elites and politicians in this country paying attention to this issue for the first time. You mentioned you couldn’t understand why somebody would feel this reaction when they watched a CEO die. It’s because you have not dealt, it sounds like, with the American health care system in the way that millions of other Americans have.”
