NEW: Former VP Candidate Expresses Interest In Future Trump Administration Role

Former Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin expressed interest in a future Trump Administration role during a recent interview with NewsNation.

“Would you ever go into the Trump administration, have you thought about it?” NewsNation host Leland Vittert asked the former vice presidential candidate. “Yes, I would. I would love to,” Palin answered without hesitation.

Palin, who served as the governor of resource-rich Alaska from 2006 through 2009, went on to indicate that she was somewhat surprised at the lack of an offer for a role in the Trump Administration’s energy goals. “I thought that there’d be a position in energy in that department, because that’s my baby, is wanting independence for America. That’s all about security and sovereignty of our nation, is to be energy independent, but that hasn’t happened,” she added.

Without naming anyone in particular, Palin further expressed frustration with “gatekeepers” surrounding the Trump Administration. “And I don’t know, Leland, there are some gatekeepers around that administration that, and they are tight,” the former McCain running mate added.

“The gatekeepers, though, Leland, it gets frustrating for those who do have a heart to serve. And I didn’t even get credentials to attend the GOP convention, if you can believe it,” Palin continued, adding that she was the only living Republican presidential or vice presidential candidate who supported Trump. “So, yeah, they’re pretty tight, but no, I’d love to serve.”

Palin first endorsed President-elect Trump in January 2016, appearing at rallies and giving Trump a boost with her historic base of conservative supporters. In October she joined Trump and other surrogates for his rally at Madison Square Garden.

She has previously expressed frustration with the lack of a job offer, however. “Andddd… yet another nominee announced!” Palin wrote in an Instagram post back in November. A follow-up post read, “Funny how politics work,” accompanied by a picture of herself.

In 2022, Palin unsuccessfully ran to represent Alaska’s at-large congressional district. She ultimately came up short in a crowded field that included Republican Nick Begich and Democrat Mary Peltola, the latter of whom ultimately emerged victorious by a narrow margin. Begich went on to unseat Peltola back in November.
