NEW: Democrat Rep. Suggests Pete Hegseth Was Drunk, Immediately Regrets It

CIA Director John Ratcliffe unleashed the full might of his fury on Democratic Rep. Jimmy Gomez amid a heated exchange erupted in a hearing concerning a recent Signal group chat leak that contained plans for an attack on the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The congressman suggested that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was drunk at the time of the messages.

During the proceedings, Gomez brought up an old claim that Hegseth was caught drinking at a podium in Europe during an address, which was debunked, as the defense secretary was drinking water.

“I’m gonna answer that. I think that’s an offensive line of questioning. The answer is no,” Ratcliffe said in response to Gomez.

During the hearing, Tulsi Gabbard also offered testimony, stating that the material discussed in the group chat that was leaked to a journalist was sensitive, but it wasn’t classified.

“It was a mistake that a reporter was inadvertently added to a signal chat with high level national security principles having a policy discussion about imminent strikes against the Houthis and the effects of the strike,” the national intelligence director went on to say concerning the matter.

Gabbard then added that while an investigation into how the journalist inadvertently got added to the chat, Mike Waltz had already taken “full responsibility” for what happened.

“National Security Advisor has taken full responsibility to this, and the National Security Council is conducting an in-depth review, along with tech, technical experts working to determine how this reporter was inadvertently added to this chat. The conversation was candid and sensitive, but as the president, National Security Advisor stated, no classified information was shared,” Gabbard added.

Continuing, the director of national intelligence said, “There were no sources, methods, locations or war plans this was a standard update to the national security cabinet that was provided alongside updates that were given to foreign partners in the region.”

Screenshots of the chat back up the claim that a staffer close to Waltz was responsible for adding the journalist that led to the leak.

“The latest messages published by The Atlantic appear to confirm that Mike Waltz did indeed add journalist Jeffrey Goldberg to the group chat. Immediately above his first messages announcing the formation of the group, the national security advisor can be seen to have added “you”- in this case, Mr Goldberg.  Mr Waltz has accepted responsibility for Mr Goldberg being added to the group and suggested that Elon Musk has been drafted in to investigate how the journalist was allowed in.”

Ratcliffe also took aim at The Atlantic story and the journalist who wrote it, calling it “deliberately false.”

He issued a response to The Atlantic’s release of the full transcript of the Signal chat by saying,“Those messages were revealed today, and revealed that I did not transmit classified information, and that the reporter, who I don’t know, I think, intentionally intended it to indicate that. That reporter also indicated that I had released the name of an undercover CIA operative. In fact, I had released the name of my chief of staff, who is not operating under cover. That was deliberately false and misleading.”
