NEW: Feds Capture One Of The Most Violent Suspects From LA Riots

A Los Angeles man who is accused of hurling boulders at moving federal vehicles during last month’s riots has been arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border, the FBI announced Wednesday.

Elpidio Reyna, 39, has been on the FBI’s wanted list since June 7 when he allegedly threw concrete blocks at federal vehicles as they were passing through Alondra Boulevard in Paramount. Footage from the scene shows a man, believed to be Reyna, hurling several large projectiles at federal personnel after a mob surrounded their position.

At least one federal agent was injured when the windshield on their vehicle was smashed by the assailant. Footage obtained by Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin shows the moment of impact, which nearly caused agents to veer off the road and crash.

Reyna was apprehended at the San Ysidro Port of Entry on Wednesday morning, federal officials announced. The Compton native has since returned to to the Los Angeles area ahead of his court hearing Wednesday afternoon.

“When agents attempted to arrest Reyna, he was not located and agents developed information confirming that he fled to Mexico,” the FBI said, adding his pictures and descriptions were distributed in Mexico as well. He had initially been detained by Mexican authorities in the state of Sinaloa, who agreed to hand him over to the U.S. to face justice after negotiations.

“You may remember Elpidio Reyna, a subject who allegedly threw rocks at federal officers during immigration operations in California June 7. We got him. He was arrested today at the U.S.-Mexico border,” Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino announced in a statement of his own. “Well done [FBI Los Angeles] and [U.S. Customs and Border Protection]. “More to come. Those who attack America’s police officers can run but they can’t hide.”

The latest arrest comes as federal investigators continue to apprehend individuals who attacked federal personnel during last month’s riots, as well as those who participated in organizing and fundraising.

Bill Essayli, U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, announced last month that federal charges are being filed against a man who handed out boxes of heavy duty face shields during the most violent night of rioting on June 9. Footage captured by a local Fox affiliate shows a man in a black pickup truck dropping off the equipment to rioters.

On June 12, agents with the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office arrested Alejandro Theodoro Orellana, who was identified as the driver of the pickup truck. Orellana was arrested on an allegation of Conspiracy to Commit Civil Disorders (18 USC 371) for distributing face shields to suspected rioters, Essayli posted on X.

“We are moving quickly to identify and arrest those involved in organizing and/or supporting civil disorder in Los Angeles,” he added.
