WATCH: Ravens’ John Harbaugh Shocks Reporter With Response To Question About Trump

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh laughed off a loaded question by a reporter during his latest scrum with the press after the scribe tried to goad him into denouncing past remarks by President Donald Trump.

Speaking at the team’s training camp on Wednesday, Harbaugh clapped back when a local reporter asked whether he approves of President Donald Trump’s “denigrating” comment from 2019 about Baltimore in light of his recent visit to the White House.

“Why would you frame the question — I would’ve framed that question like, ‘You got a chance to go visit with the president, man. What was that experience like?’” Harbaugh said with a chuckle.

“It was amazing. It was awesome. And I promise you, I root for our president. I want our president to be successful just like I want my quarterback to be successful, and I want my team to be successful.”

During his first administration, Trump ripped Baltimore as a “corrupt, rodent-infested mess” and blamed Democratic officials for tarnishing its image on the national stage. Several viral videos from the time showed streets littered with garbage and homeless people openly shooting up drugs.

Residents, Trump said, were “living in hell” under the leadership of Baltimore Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), who had been lambasting the president for several days leading up to his remarks.

Harbaugh elucidated his visit, saying both he and his brother, Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, were proud to receive the honor of visiting the White House.

“It was an amazing experience. It’s not often you get invited and get a chance to do something like that as a family,” Harbaugh said, the NY Post reports. “We were there, my daughter was there, Jim’s daughters were there. My mom and dad were there. My mom and President Trump — just seeing how he treated her was really meaningful. That’s the fourth president [I’ve met].

“Jim has met seven presidents, so he’s got the lead on me… I had the chance to meet President Obama twice. Incredible experience. Had a chance to meet President Biden, when he was vice president, in Iraq. I spent a lot of time with him in Iraq, which was amazing… So those are moments that I definitely cherish and it means a lot.”

Trump, as of late, has injected himself into political discussions around the NFL. Earlier this week, he threatened to torpedo a new stadium deal for the Washington Commanders if they don’t return to the team’s original Redskins name, harkening back to a change made during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement.

During the 2024 campaign, a surprising number of professional players expressed their enthusiasm for his campaign by imitating Trump’s swaying dance moves with an end zone dance during several of his rallies.
