Letitia James Publicly Shamed After ‘Unconstitutional’ Case Against Trump Is Tossed
Former President Donald Trump yet again scored a huge legal victory on Thursday, as a New York appeals court tossed out the massive $515 million civil fraud penalty that was leveled against him by the state’s Attorney General Letitia James. In the ruling, the court referred to the penalty as being both unconstitutional and excessive.
James was then raked over the coals for allegedly politicizing the legal system as a weapon against Trump and the MAGA movement through this case.
Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) responded to the news by saying, “Glad to see Letitia James’s third world, sham trial against President Trump finally thrown out. Judge Arthur Engoron is a sad disgrace and isn’t fit to be a member of the bar, let alone a judge. This kind of lawfare has no place in America.”

President Trump was, of course, thrilled by the news, taking to Truth Social to express his feelings about the ruling.
“TOTAL VICTORY in the FAKE New York State Attorney General Letitia James Case! I greatly respect the fact that the Court had the Courage to throw out this unlawful and disgraceful Decision that was hurting Business all throughout New York State,” Trump stated in his post.
“Others were afraid to do business there. The amount, including Interest and Penalties, was over $550 Million Dollars. It was a Political Witch Hunt, in a business sense, the likes of which no one has ever seen before,” the president said, according to CNBC.
Eric Trump, the president’s son, who was a defendant in the case, also shared his reaction to the news.
“Total victory in the sham NY Attorney General case!!! After 5 years of hell, justice prevailed!” he said.
James had accused Trump of “lying, cheating, and staggering fraud.” Ironically, she’s now being investigated for the exact same crime she charged the president with.
The latest decision, which was handed down by a panel of five judges within New York’s mid-level Appellate Division, took the order originally issued by Judge Arthur Engoron and ripped the guts out of it. Engoron’s order would have crippled the president’s real estate empire, built over a lifetime of hard work.
Judge Engoron had originally slapped a $355 million fine on President Trump last year. However, with interest, it blew up over $515 million.
“While the injunctive relief ordered by the court is well crafted to curb defendants’ business culture, the court’s disgorgement order, which directs that defendants pay nearly half a billion dollars to the State of New York, is an excessive fine that violates the Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution,” Judges Dianne T. Renwick and Peter H. Moulton stated.
The ruling is a massive victory for Trump and a huge public defeat for James and Engoron, who have been accused of weaponizing the legal system and using it against the president.
