Trump Issues Final Warning To DC Mayor: ‘We’ll Take It Over’

President Donald Trump has officially had enough of DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, giving her one last warning following the administration’s federal takeover of local law enforcement and the deployment of National Guard troops to assist them in a major cleanup of the city’s streets.

“Mayor Bowser better get her act straight or she won’t be mayor very long. Because we’ll take it over, run it like it’s supposed to be run,” Trump stated during comments delivered from the Oval Office.

That wasn’t the first swipe the president took at Bowser on Friday. Just after midnight, Trump took to Truth Social where he wrote, “Washington, D.C. is SAFE AGAIN! The crowds are coming back, the spirit is high, and our D.C. National Guard and Police are doing a fantastic job. They are out in force, and are NOT PLAYING GAMES!!!”

“As bad as it sounds to say, there were no murders this week for the first time in memory,” he added. “Mayor Muriel Bowser must immediately stop giving false and highly inaccurate crime figures, or bad things will happen, including a complete and total Federal takeover of the City,” he added. “Washington D.C. will soon be great again!!!”

Earlier this week, the Justice Department opened a probe into DC’s crime reporting data. The investigation is being led by the Office of the U.S. Attorney for D.C., which is the same office that came out earlier in 2025 saying that violent crime in the city had reached a 30-year low.

On Thursday evening, President Trump paid federal law enforcement a visit at a U.S. Police Park located in Anacostia, where he delivered a speech saying the White House takeover of police is paying off already.

“It’s like a different place, different city,” Trump said to the crowd. “Now, I think right now it’s better than it has been in years and in a couple of weeks, it’s going to be far better.”

During the early part of August, Trump announced the federal government would be cracking down on crime in the nation’s capital, revealing the DOJ would take over the Metropolitan Police Department. The president then deployed National Guard troops to assist.

Since then, over 630 arrests have been made. A whopping 250 of them were illegal aliens, according to The Hill. Many local officials have tried to say that Trump’s moves are unconstitutional and amounts to martial law.

However, in order to extend the length of the takeover, Trump would need the approval of Congress.
