Kilmar Abrego Garcia Arrested, Homan Floats Deportation To Uganda

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal alien from El Salvador, was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after arriving for a check-in with the field office located in Baltimore, Maryland. Officials have revealed they are starting removal proceedings to send him to a third-world country. One such option on the table is Uganda.

Abrego Garcia’s attorney, Simon Sandoval Moshenberg, spoke with reporters outside the ICE office, saying officials had declined to inform them where they were detaining his client prior to his removal or tell them why he was being arrested.

“As of the last five minutes, Mr. Abrego Garcia has filed a new lawsuit in the federal district court for the District of Maryland challenging his confinement and challenging his deportation to Uganda, or to any other country unless and until he’s had a fair trial— as in, an immigration court, as well as his full appeal rights,” Sandoval-Moshenberg told the press.

Abrego Garcia’s legal battles have been headline news worldwide after being deported from the United States by the Trump administration to El Salvador for violating a 2019 court order.

Just before he arrived on Monday morning, immigration advocates, along with faith leaders and other members of the community, showed up outside the field office around sunrise to hold a vigil for Abrego Garcia, which was put together by two immigration advocacy groups.

Abrego Garcia was sent back to the United States several months after being deported to El Salvador because of orders from a federal judge and the Supreme Court.

Upon his return to the United States, he was arrested for charges of human smuggling stemming from a traffic stop in Tennessee in 2022. Until last Friday, he remained in federal detention, when he was released from custody and ordered to be returned to Maryland. A judge said that Abrego Garcia could remain in the state under electronic surveillance and under the supervision of ICE officials while awaiting trial.

“ICE officials notified Abrego Garcia’s attorneys shortly after his release on Friday that they planned to deport him to Uganda, an East African nation that reached a deal with the U.S. last week to accept migrants deported by the Trump administration,” Fox News reported. “The notice, sent by ICE’s Office of the Principal Legal Adviser, said it was intended to ‘serve as notice that DHS may remove your client, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, to Uganda no earlier than 72 hours from now (absent weekends).'”

Tom Homan, the president’s border czar, stated during an interview Sunday evening with Fox that Abrego Garcia was “absolutely” going to be deported from the U.S. and stated that Uganda is “on the table” as the third country of removal.

He then stated the suspect “can enjoy the little time he has with his family. And for the person who says we’re not going to separate family, his family can go with him, because he’s leaving.”
