WATCH: Fox News Host Says MN Shooter’s Trans Identity Is Irrelevant

Fox News host Lisa Kennedy Montgomery, who primarily goes by just “Kennedy” on the network, argued during Wednesday’s installment of “The Five” that Robin Westman’s transgender identity is irrelevant when discussing Wednesday’s mass shooting targeting a Catholic school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Westman — a biological male who started “identifying” as a female when he was 17 — indiscriminately opened fire on students as they were attending a school-wide mass on Wednesday morning. Two children, aged 8 and 10 were killed, while 14 other students and three additional adults were wounded. Thankfully, all of those injured are expected to survive.

The gunman uploaded a number of disturbing videos prior to carrying out the attack, many of which contained anti-Christian imagery and nods to far-left extremism. Westman scribbled a number of messages on his weapons, including “Where is your god,” “I’m the woker, why so queerious” and “Kill Donald Trump.”

He also praised infamous mass shooters and terrorists, including Sandy Hook killer Adam Lanza and the 9/11 hijackers.

Kennedy argued that the gunman’s decision to target a Catholic school had nothing to do with his transgender identity, but rather, his mental illness. “Do you think there could have been something done if someone changes their name and thinks they’re another gender? Would you not have them have access to weapons?” co-host Jesse Watters asked.

“No, I think there are trans people who are stalked and they are terrorized and they worry about their own self -protection and they deserve to protect themselves,” Kennedy responded. She went on to argue that the threat level posed by transgender individuals is no higher than people who take medication for anxiety and other mental illnesses.

“There are plenty of laws keeping good people from buying guns and ammunition. We talked to Joe, our local sporting goods guy, and he’s furious that people who deserve to protect themselves and their families, for people who enjoy a sporting life, that they are not capable to go in and by a weapon without some sort of registry,” the Fox News host continued.

“Yes, this person was mentally ill. It’s not the trans part, it’s that he was absolutely, completely evil.”

Kennedy was not the only Fox News host to draw the ire of network viewers with their comments on Wednesday’s shooting.

Former congressman Trey Gowdy ignited a firestorm earlier in the day when he falsely claimed that mass shooters are “always, almost always” committed by “young, white males.”

“Our system is reactive. Something bad happens, we react to it. And what people are crying for now is how can we prevent this? How can we stop it? And the only way to stop it is to identify the shooter ahead of time or keep the weapons out of their hands,” he said.

“And so we’re going to have to have a conversation of freedom versus protecting children. I mean, how many school shootings does it take before we’re going to have a conversation about keeping firearms out?”

Gowdy then repeated the verifiably false lie that mass shootings are “almost always” carried out by “young, white males.”

“I mean, did anyone this morning think, I wonder if that was a female? Did any of y ‘all think that? I mean, there’s been one school shooting involving a female. One at Tennessee. But other than that, it is usually young white males.”
