JUST IN: School Shooting Plot Thwarted By Trump’s DC Crime Crackdown
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Thursday that federal law enforcement personnel in Washington D.C. managed to thwart an imminent school shooting plot.
While discussing the Trump Administration’s crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital, Leavitt announced that a juvenile in the city’s seventh ward was arrested for “threats to kidnap and injure, receiving stolen property, possession of a large -capacity feeding device, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.”
The investigation was launched based on social media posts allegedly threatening violence towards a school. Following the execution of a search warrant, authorities managed to recover seven firearms.
“So this was a juvenile who was a risk to not just himself but the community here in Washington, and he was removed from the community last night because of the law enforcement efforts of this administration.”
Leavitt went on to point to a Thursday statement from First Lady Melania Trump in response to the Annunciation Catholic School shooting, which emphasized the need to identify potential mass shooters through disturbing social media posts and the like. “Early warning signs are often evident with many individuals exhibiting concerning behaviors and making violent threats online prior to their actions,” the press secretary continued.
“We encourage all Americans, as the old saying goes, if you see something, say something. If you see warning signs or threats, report it to law enforcement this administration, federal law enforcement will take those reports and those threats seriously. They will be treated as a law enforcement emergency and we will act accordingly.”
The arrest comes just a day after 23-year-old Robin Westman killed two children, aged 8 and 10, and wounded 17 others when he indiscriminately opened fire at a school-wide mass for the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The transgender-identifying gunman uploaded a number of disturbing videos online prior to the attack, a number of which included messages scribbled on his weapons in an apparent nod to the Christchurch mosque mass shooter. Messages written on guns and magazines included “I’m the joker, why so queerious,” “Where if your god?” and “Kill Donald Trump,” in addition to several references to infamous mass shooters and terrorists.
The gunman ultimately took his own life behind the building after carrying out the attack.
