MSNBC Melts Down After Trump Suggests Prison For Comey
If former FBI Director James Comey is sent to prison over the Russiagate scandal, there’s no telling how apoplectic MSNBC personalities may become.
Just the suggestion of an imprisoned Comey was enough to send host Eugene Daniels into a tailspin after President Donald Trump targeted his longtime nemesis for furthering the suggestion that he colluded with Russian forces to win the 2016 election. Trump over the weekend told the Daily Caller that it “would not bother” him to see Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan go to prison for their involvement.
Trump sat for an interview with the Caller’s Reagan Reese, where he revealed more about the government’s new evidence in a case that stretches back nearly a decade. Daniels, who hosts “This Weekend,” said the comments were another example of Trump’s “authoritarian ambitions.”
“That attitude — punishing perceived enemies while rewarding devotees — is exactly what we’re seeing across the federal government,” Daniels said. “At the Centers for Disease Control, Trump has already installed a new hand-picked loyalist, a business investor with no medical training, to replace a career scientist to run your nation’s top public health agency.”
“Then there’s the Federal Reserve, where emergency hearings are underway right now after Trump’s attempt to oust Fed Board Governor Lisa Cook over alleged mortgage fraud, even though she has not been charged with any crime,” he continued. “But the aim is clear: get her out so he can put in a loyalist.”

Cook, who is suing to keep her job, allegedly claimed multiple properties as her primary residence, according to federal housing authorities.
“And that’s become Trump’s playbook across the government, forcing out officials at the CIA, the Department of Transportation, the Bureau of Labor Statistics — institutions where nonpartisanship is essential to what they do,” Daniels added, per the Daily Caller. “It’s their lifeblood.”
“Trump is also ramping up his war on blue cities, manufacturing crisis after crisis as a means to seize more power,” he said. “In addition to National Guard deployments, Trump is threatening new immigration crackdowns in Boston and Chicago, using agents from ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] and Border Patrol — agencies whose budget Trump tripled this year.”
The administration last month launched a federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police in a bid to rid Washington, D.C. of a crime spree that even Democrats and journalists say is out of control. Despite their caterwauling, it’s hard to dispute that the federal siege on crime has seen incidents plummet by nearly half.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said last week that she is grateful for the “surge of officers” sent by Trump.
“We greatly appreciate the surge of officers that enhance what MPD has been able to do in this city … for carjackings, the difference between this period, this 20-day period of this federal surge, and last year represents a 87% reduction in carjackings in Washington, D.C.,” Bowser said.
