President Donald Trump is mixing politics with humor, this time turning his attention to one of America’s most recognizable roadside restaurants.

On Wednesday, he shared an AI-generated video on X that shows him dancing next to Cracker Barrel’s longtime mascot, the “Old Timer,” while the Village People’s “YMCA” plays in the background. The short clip quickly went viral, not only for its humor but for what it signaled to Trump’s supporters: it’s officially safe to head back to Cracker Barrel.

The video shows Trump appearing shoulder-to-shoulder with the beloved Cracker Barrel character, who was recently restored to the company’s logo after a controversial redesign. In the spoof, Trump dances to the Village People’s “YMCA,” trading places with the mascot and eventually inserting himself into the brand’s iconic orange-and-brown sign.

Trump’s video comes after Cracker Barrel reversed course on a rebranding effort that many customers saw as a betrayal of tradition.

The restaurant chain not only restored its old branding but also removed Pride and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) language from its website.

Another clip showed Trump pole vaulting while swapping out Cracker Barrel’s old logo for the new design.

In August, Cracker Barrel rolled out a $700 million modernization campaign that included a new minimalist logo. The redesign stripped away the Old Timer in favor of a text-only look, meant to give the brand a more updated appearance. But what was supposed to be a fresh take quickly drew fire.

Since the change, customers accused the company of abandoning its heritage to chase corporate trends. Many media outlets amplified the discontent, and Trump himself weighed in, saying the redesign ignored “the ultimate Poll”—the voice of loyal customers.

Within days, Cracker Barrel announced the return of its original logo, featuring the Old Timer. The company’s stock, which had dropped following the redesign, rebounded sharply after the reversal. Executives reportedly acknowledged that his comments added significant pressure, making the logo U-turn inevitable.

“We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel. We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our ‘Old Timer’ will remain,” the company posted on social media, pointing to the familiar image of “Uncle Herschel,” the overall-clad man leaning on a barrel that has symbolized the chain for decades.

The post went on to reinforce the restaurant’s roots and traditions: “At Cracker Barrel, it’s always been – and always will be – about serving up delicious food, warm welcomes, and the kind of country hospitality that feels like family. As a proud American institution, our 70,000 hardworking employees look forward to welcoming you to our table soon.”

Trump’s latest video takes the saga one step further. By humorously embracing the Old Timer and dancing alongside him, Trump effectively gave his base the all-clear to return to Cracker Barrel.
