Trump Officially Reveals The Next Blue City For Federal Crackdown

President Donald Trump has announced that the next stop on his crime crackdown tour is the city of Memphis, Tennessee. The president stated that he will be “fixing” the famous southern city, despite many believing he would be taking over the police in Chicago or Baltimore after the administration’s success in cleaning up Washington, DC.

“We’re going to Memphis – Memphis is deeply troubled,” President Trump said during an in-studio interview with Fox & Friends. “We’re going to fix that just like we did Washington.”

Trump’s 30-day takeover of the police in Washington, D.C., via the Home Rule Act came to an end on Wednesday. However, a National Guard presence will remain within the city until the end of November.

Many have wondered why the president chose Memphis instead of Chicago. The city of Memphis has one of the highest crime rates in the nation, and Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, a Republican, likely joined in cooperation with the initiative, allowing the federal government to provide assistance in the crime crackdown.

The president revealed during his interview that Mayor Paul Young, a Democrat, is thrilled with the decision.

“We’re going to fix [Memphis], just like we did Washington,” the president said, before admitting: “I would have preferred going to Chicago.”

According to the Daily Mail, “With a population of nearly 619,000, Memphis’ violent crime rate in 2024 was 2,501 per 100,000, massively higher than the national rate of 380 per 100,000 people.”

“We’ll straighten that out,” Trump promised early on Friday morning.

The report then revealed he plans to activate National Guard troops and will also be bringing in “anybody else we need” to help lower the crime rate in Memphis.

President Trump then suggested the city of St. Louis, which has a well-earned reputation for horrendous crime levels, could be next on the list. However, he made it clear that he really wants to send National Guard troops into Chicago to clean up the streets.

Last week, a member of the press asked the president, “Why target Chicago and Boston when there are cities in red states with higher crime rates?”

The individual then specifically named the cities of St. Louis and Memphis.

“Excuse me – Do you know how many people were killed in Chicago last weekend? Eight,” Trump responded.

“Do you know how many were killed in Chicago the week before? 7. Do you know how many people were wounded? 74 people were wounded,” he added, making his point. “You think there’s worse than that? I don’t think so.”

However, Trump has made it clear that he will not send in the National Guard until Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, a Democrat, asks.
