WATCH: Byron Donalds Smacks Down Rashida Tlaib In Wild Committee Hearing
A congressional committee hearing literally broke out into hysterics as “Squad” lawmaker Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) challenged GOP Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) on his patriotism, leading to a caustic war of words.
The screaming match started when Tlaib suggested the Donalds and his fellow GOP colleagues on the U.S. House Oversight Committee were enablers of fascism.
“We can’t be passive right now. So nobody over there should take anything we say so personally as if we’re attacking them. No, we’re attacking a process. We’re not attacking people here. And I think it’s really important we need to stand up against this fascist takeover,” Tlaib said.
“That’s not a bad word. It’s a fact. And here in D.C., and across the country, it is so incredibly important, Mr. Chair, that this committee does not allow rhetoric that defames or paints Washington D.C., in a way that you all haven’t really truly seen.”
Republicans like Donalds have accused Democrats of cultivating an atmosphere of violence on the left that has produced individuals like Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspected killer of Charlie Kirk.
The Florida Republican interrupted Tlaib, reminding her that one of the bullets meant for Kirk was actually inscribed with an anti-fascist message.
When she refused to let him ask a question, Donalds lit up his microphone.
“Chairman, I think it’s insane that the gentlelady doesn’t have an argument, but she’s going to refer to me and some of my colleagues like we were from the Third Reich. This is insane. It’s insane. It’s insane. It’s insane. Do I look like a member of the Third Reich to you, Ms. Tlaib?” Donalds asked.
“Is that what I look like to you? Is that what you think? Is that what you think? Is that what you think? I think it’s radical and I think it’s insane! And I don’t respect everything that you say. But to say something like that to myself and a lot of my colleagues is way out of line. It’s way out of line. It’s way out of line!”
“Free DC! Free DC! And make sure you vote with your own voting card,” she screamed maniacally after Donalds stopped talking. “Don’t be giving it to somebody else.”

A federal takeover of Washington, D.C. was lifted earlier this month after the Trump administration deployed federal officers to combat crime and improve public safety.
Dan Turrentine, a former Democratic strategist, suggested members of his party made a mistake by continuing to label President Donald Trump a “fascist” after Kirk’s murder, the Daily Caller noted.
“[T]he party should not call Trump Hitler, should not say he’s a fascist. One, it’s bad politics. Two, it’s just not true. Right? It is simply not the case,” Turrentine said. “And I think that whenever a bad thing happens, parties need to call out in real time, ‘This is not acceptable.’ And I wish that one of our 2028-ers would come out and be more explicit.”
