NEW: Gunman Shouted ‘Free Palestine’ Before Opening Fire At NH Wedding
A crazed gunman shouted “Free Palestine” before he opened fire on wedding guests at a reception in Nashua, New Hampshire, according to state Attorney General John Formella.
The shots rang out just as the reception was getting underway around 8:30 p.m. at the Sky Meadow Country Club, located about 40 miles north of Boston. The shooting left at least one dead, 59-year-old Robert Steven DeCesare, while at least six additional attendees were wounded.
Hunter Nadeau, 23, has been charged in connection with the shooting, which was reportedly carried out with a handgun. The attorney general’s office said there was no known connection between the two, or between Nadeau and the wedding as a whole.
Witnesses say they saw the shooter walk in from the restaurant at the venue and heard him say “the kids are OK and free Palestine” before opening fire, according to a report from local outlet WBTS-CD.
“It was really strange. The one thing I can say is when he was walking across the dance floor, I could tell he was the guy because he wasn’t dressed up for a wedding, he wasn’t dressed up to go to dinner and for lack of a better definition he just looked like a weirdo,” said Mike Homewood of Mike’s Styles, who was at the event.
“We were trying to keep family members safe. It was weird because everyone just dropped and rolled. The way this world is going with shooting. We just wanted to keep family safe, keep everyone down and try to find safe spots,” another witness told the outlet.

Nadeau is facing charges of second-degree murder and is expected to be arraigned on Sunday. The attorney general’s office does not believe anyone else was involved in planning or carrying out the attack, though the investigation is still ongoing.
The suspected gunman is expected to hit with additional charges relating to the injured victims.
Initial reports suggested that there were two shooters, sparking a massive manhunt across the New England region. “Video surveillance has confirmed there was only one shooter and they are currently being detained,” police posted on X around 9:30 p.m.
“Our hearts go out to the families of those killed or injured. Thank you the Nashua PD for quick work in catching the ‘person of interest,’ This truly can happen anywhere,” Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess announced in a Facebook post.
