A lone sniper opened fire on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday morning, killing at least one individual and wounding three others before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The shooting unfolded around 7 a.m. CST and targeted suspects held in ICE custody, according to Fox4.

Shortly after the first shots rang out, officers responded to descriptions of a white male with a sniper rifle. An individual matching that description was found dead on a nearby roof of an immigration attorney’s office.

ICE Director Todd Lyons confirmed that the shooter is “down” and that the gunman reportedly shot himself as he was being surrounded by officers.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem wrote on X that the shooting resulted in “multiple injuries and fatalities” and also confirmed that the shooter took his own life.

“While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” Noem said. “Please pray for the victims and their families.”

Images from the scene obtained by the Daily Mail show a heavy police presence, with dozens of vehicles flashing alarms and cordoning off the facility, which sits just 30 minutes outside of downtown Dallas.

Fox News reported that the shooting occurred when detainees were being brought into a port of the facility where the gunman was able to strike at least three people.

WATCH:

It is the second targeted attack on a Texas ICE facility this year.

On July 4, a group of assailants opened fire on immigration officers at the Prairieland Detention Center near Fort Worth, striking one in the neck. More than a dozen individuals have been arrested as part of the coordinated attack.

Just 17 days later, another individual opened fire at a Texas facility run by U.S. Border Patrol in McAllen, injuring two and one Border Patrol employee. Dozens of rounds were exchanged between both sides.
