WATCH: James Comey Responds To Indictment With Ominous Video Statement

Former FBI James Comey responded to his indictment on two federal charges with an ominous video statement in which he vowed to fight back against the Trump Administration.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia has released the grand jury indictment against former FBI Director James Comey on two federal counts, one for making false statements while testifying before Congress and another for obstruction of justice.

The indictment alleges that Comey obstructed a congressional investigation into the disclosure of sensitive information in violation of 18 USC 1505. It also alleges that the former director made a false statement when he did not authorize someone at the FBI to serve as an “anonymous source” in order to leak classified materials to outlets like the New York Times.

Comey denied the charges against him in a video statement posted to his Instagram account.

“My family and I have known for years that there are costs to standing up to Donald Trump, but we couldn’t imagine ourselves living any other way. We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn’t either,” Comey said.

“My heart is broken for the Department of Justice, but I have great confidence in the federal judicial system. I’m innocent, so let’s have a trial and keep the faith,” he added.

The former director’s arraignment has been set for October 9. Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff, an Obama appointee, has been assigned to the case.

The false statement charge appears to relate to a September 30 hearing before the U.S. Senate, in which Comey told Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) that he did not authorize leaks to the media. The former director claimed that he had never authorized anyone within the FBI to leak classified material under “anonymous” sourcing to media outlets like the New York Times.

Former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe has testified that Comey did indeed authorize him to leak sensitive material to the press.

The obstruction charge appears to relate to questioning of Comey by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who asked about referral U.S. intelligence agencies sent to the FBI in September 2016 indicating that Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign hoped to distract from the controversy surrounding her use of a private email server by accusing Trump of colluding with the Russian government.

“You don’t remember getting that or being talked —,” Graham said of the referral, to which Comey replied, “That doesn’t ring any bells with me.”

FBI investigations into Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan stem from the creation of a 2017 intelligence report that claimed Russia influenced the outcome of the 2016 presidential election and colluded directly with President Donald Trump. The report — which was authorized without proper procedure or sourcing — led to the creation of the bogus Russian collusion investigation, which ultimately concluded without finding any evidence of the claims outlined int he report.

“The leading figures in the Russia Hoax have spent years deceiving the American public by presenting their manufactured and politicized assessments as credible intelligence,” Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard told Fox News earlier this year.

“JUSTICE IN AMERICA! One of the worst human beings this Country has ever been exposed to is James Comey, the former Corrupt Head of the FBI. Today he was indicted by a Grand Jury on two felony counts for various illegal and unlawful acts,” President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social in response to the indictment.

“He has been so bad for our Country, for so long, and is now at the beginning of being held responsible for his crimes against our Nation. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
