Hakeem Jeffries Melts Down On MSNBC After Trump Posts Clip Of Him Wearing Sombrero
U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) on Tuesday responded with vitriol to an AI-generated video shared by President Donald Trump that shows him standing at an imaginary press conference wearing a mustache and oversized sombrero.
The comedic clip, shared by Trump late Monday night, made light of Jeffries and U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) as both men vow to force a government shutdown.
“Look guys, there’s no way to sugarcoat it,” Schumer says in the fake clip. “Nobody likes Democrats anymore because of our woke trans bulls**t.”

On MSNBC, Jeffries lit into Trump for posting a “bigoted” caricature of him right as the U.S. approaches a midnight funding cliff.
“It’s a disgusting video, and we’re going to make clear, bigotry will get you nowhere,” he told Lawrence O’Donnell.

It was only a matter of hours before President Trump’s rapid response team jumped on Jeffries’ comments, mocking the House Democrat for appearing to photoshop his height while posing on a New York park bench earlier this year.
“Remember when Hakeem Jeffries got caught photoshopping his waist?” the Trump War Room account posted on X.

Other social media users piled on Jeffries’ photoshop faux pas.
“Hakeem Jeffries tried to make a super relatable post on his Instagram, but he is so photoshopped everyone noticed the entire BENCH is WARPED,” FLVoiceNews’ Eric Daugherty wrote on X.
“Utter clown show, he thought no one would notice.”
“You’ve got a terrible social media team, my man. Work on those editing skills,” another joked.
A third asked, “Bro why did you photoshop your hips? Or are park benches in BK wavy like that.”
Jeffries and Schumer are facing relentless pressure from their caucuses, as well as progressive interest groups, to let government funding expire at midnight even if it means deep cuts to the federal workforce.
President Trump on Tuesday doubled down on his promise to lay off thousands of federal workers if Congress fails to reach a spending deal.
“We may do a lot, and that’s only because of the Democrats,” the president said outside the White House. “You know, they want to be able to take care of people that are coming into our country illegally,” a reference to some Democrats’ insistence that Obamacare cover potentially illegal immigrants.
Trump, Vance, and other Republicans have objected to a provision in Democrats’ funding offer that would restore Obamacare eligibility for “lawfully present” immigrants, an ambiguous term that critics say leaves interpretation up to bureaucrats who may be incentivized to expand coverage to disqualified groups.
Such an inclusion may cover immigrants whose legal status is complicated, including the DREAMers and asylum seekers currently suing the Trump administration after it revoked their legal protections earlier this year.
