WATCH: Michael Cohen Leaves MSNBC Panel Visibly Irritated By Predicting Guilty Verdicts For Comey, James
The anti-Trump wall of opposition showed cracks on MSNBC when Michael Cohen predicted that the federal government will secure convictions of former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Cohen, who served 18 months in prison before turning on President Donald Trump, his former client, upset his fellow panelists by observing that both Comey and James had politicized their offices long before they accused the White House of doing the same.
“Do I believe, for example, that Tish James will be held accountable? Absolutely,” said Cohen. “Do I think James Comey will be held accountable? Absolutely.”
Lindsey Halligan, acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, has been tapped by the U.S. Justice Department to prosecute both cases and has been unfairly maligned as a 36-year-old “former beauty queen” who “lacks experience,” Cohen accused.
“It doesn’t matter. She has the power of government,” he insisted.
Challenged about a slew of career prosecutors who have resigned rather than charging Comey and James, the former Trump fixer smacked down the suggestion by another guest.
“Not in the slightest,” he went on. “The documents speak for themselves, and they have the documents that they need. I said it on a different show and a different program that I believe a first-year law student can actually take these cases to trial and be successful.”
Glum faces began to materialize around the table as Cohen called out James for promising to “get Trump” while first running for office in 2018.
“For what? For misstatements for bank and banking fraud. Isn’t that exactly what now they’re charging her with?” causing another guest to allege that James introduced “facts” against Trump in her case.
“And they will have a case against her once Lindsey Halligan brings it to trial,” he shot back.
“That’s the point I’m trying to make. Republicans are screaming ‘yay, go accountability.’ Democrats, of course, we’re screaming ‘political revenge tour.’ I understand that, but this is exactly– she opened up Pandora’s Box by going after Trump for business fraud.”

WATCH:
James was charged last week on the heels of Comey’s arraignment as the government prepares to take the cases to trial. Both have declared their innocence.
A cohort of former federal judges warned last week that Trump’s prosecutions of Comey and James represent a “grave danger” to the U.S. justice system.
“President Donald Trump continues to corruptly abuse the power of his office by directing the United States Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to target his critics and his perceived political enemies for investigation and criminal prosecution,” they wrote.
