NEW: Footage Of Alec Baldwin’s Car Crash Emerges After Actor Blames Truck Driver

New footage obtained by Newsmax appears to show the moment Hollywood star Alec Baldwin attempted to pass a garbage truck while he and his brother, fellow actor Stephen, were driving in the Hamptons.

Baldwin, 67, was seen looking irritated and disheveled as he made a phone call from the scene of the crash on Friday evening. The actor’s vehicle, a white Range Rover, was smashed in the front after plowing head-on into a tree on the side of Montauk Highway in the East Hamptons, where Baldwin owns a swanky vacation home.

The “Hunt For Red October” actor was in the area for the Hamptons International Film Festival, which ran from October 3 through October 15. He currently serves as the co-chair of the Board Executive Committee.

In a long-winded Instagram video, Baldwin shared that he and his brother were unharmed. He then blamed the crash on a “garbage truck the size of a whale,” claiming that it had cut him off.

“To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree, I hit a big, fat tree and crushed my car – my wife’s car. I crushed my wife’s car. I feel bad about that. But it’s all fine, I’m fine, and my brother’s fine,” he said.

The actor went on to thank responding officers, singling out an “Officer Gerken” with the East Hampton Police Department for his assistance. “As nice as can be, as pleasant as can be about the whole thing,” Baldwin said.

Footage obtained by Newsmax captured the exact moment of the crash from the truck’s point of view. The footage begins with the truck exiting a parking lot and making a legal right turn.

About 30 seconds in, Baldwin’s vehicle can be seen attempting to pass the vehicle before veering onto the shoulder, taking out a mailbox before plowing into a tree head-on. The video also captured the immediate aftermath of the crash, showing the Range Rover’s heavily-damaged front end.

The East Hampton Police Department has not indicated that there is any ongoing investigation beyond standard vehicular accident procedures.

A representative for Stephen Baldwin stated that both actors were doing well after the incident and expressed thanks for responding officers. “Stephen is doing fine and is grateful no one was injured,” the representative said in a statement to Us Weekly.

“He’s relieved that this was just an accident with no serious injuries,” the statement continued, “and both brothers are taking time to rest.”

Baldwin first purchased his current East Hampton home in 1995 and has since completed two sweeping renovations. He recently tried, unsuccessfully, to place the property on the market, going so far as to knock off $10 million from the original asking price in January 2024.
