NEW: Top Democrat Threatens Trump Over Ballroom In Bizarre Clip

Published

on

House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is once again in the media spotlight. This time, it’s for slamming President Donald Trump and the construction of a new White House ballroom. According to Jeffries, the project warrants an in-depth investigation, with potential legal ramifications for those involved.

Unsurprisingly, much of his latest outburst lacked evidence, which, due to its aggressive nature, has triggered an equally outraged response from MAGA supporters.

“These people are gonna be held accountable. No matter how long it takes,” Jeffries said with more than a touch of defiance in his tone. He goes on to level accusations against the White House of misusing taxpayer dollars and of endangering the integrity of America’s most recognizable landmark.

Jeffries alleges that the new ballroom is linked to what he called “the largest pay-to-play scheme in U.S. history.” The congressman is implying that the Trump administration is seeking corporate donations to fund the ballroom project from entities with an interest in securing government contracts.

The New York Democrat said, “All of this is gonna have to be investigated. It WILL. ALL of this will have to be uncovered.”

The ballroom project, which began with the demolition of the East Wing, is part of a $250 million renovation and is designed to hold up to 999 guests. To understand the sheer scale of the new structure being built, the old East Room seated only 200.

Trump has defended the project by stating that the White House was in desperate need of an updated venue for both important diplomatic and official events. The president said the new project paid “total respect for the existing building.”

A number of photographs of the construction project surfaced on social media and in various left-wing news outlets, showing a few alterations that allegedly contradict the president’s claims of preservation.

An associate professor who focuses on historical preservation slammed the project, saying, “That’s not preservation. That’s destruction.”

Scrutiny from critics and other members of the left pointed out that the project began during the federal government shutdown, which disrupted the usual approval channels, such as the National Capital Planning Commission.

However, Will Scharf, currently serving as the assistant president, said the commission’s authority didn’t cover demolition. Left-wing politicians and media figures are trying to make the case that proper oversight for the project was side-stepped as it moved forward. But overall, sentiment on the ballroom and what it brings to the White House property has been positive.

Another group that expressed concern about the new ballroom is the Society of Architectural Historians, which said a thorough review process is necessary due to alleged historical implications. The National Trust for Historic Preservation shared these sentiments, expressing fear about the potential negative impact the ballroom might have on the historical integrity of the White House.

Reports have revealed that while Jeffries’ criticisms of President Trump are nothing new, the brash assertions the congressman has made lack evidence.
