A bold and unscripted confrontation on Capitol Hill has gone viral after a man confronted Rep. Sarah McBride, Delaware’s first-term Democrat and the nation’s first openly transgender member of Congress, with a blunt rebuke that pulled no punches.

The 30-second clip captures the moment an unidentified man—introducing himself with theatrical flair as “Joseph Philip Daniel”—marches straight up to McBride on a public sidewalk and unleashes a rapid-fire sermon laced with deadnaming and moral condemnation.

“Timothy McBride! Timothy, I’m Joseph Philip Daniel,” the man said. “Hopefully you don’t have child porn on your phone. Better not be a pedophile. God’s watching you, man.” McBride, visibly caught off guard, says nothing in response.

“What you do on Capitol Hill, it’ll all come back to you. Jesus is watching you, Timothy McBride, you man. How dare you act like a woman out here? How dare you?” the man finished.

McBride, who won the seat with 58% of the vote last year, has championed progressive policies including taxpayer-funded gender-affirming care and federal anti-discrimination protections—measures that have drawn fierce opposition from GOP lawmakers and grassroots conservatives.

Critics, including Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), have pushed back hard, introducing resolutions to restrict bathroom access on Capitol grounds and openly refusing to use McBride’s preferred name or pronouns during committee hearings.
