WATCH: Trump Goes Viral After Giving Play-By-Play Commentary During NFL Game
President Donald Trump made a surprise stop in the FOX broadcast booth Sunday, joining Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma during the Washington Commanders’ matchup with the Detroit Lions.
As Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota pushed into the red zone, Trump leaned into the mic with trademark bluntness. “I think this is a very important couple of plays,” he said as Mariota lined up for a second-and-7 from Detroit’s 9-yard line. “They have to get a touchdown. Let’s put it differently. They just have to get a touchdown. Forget about the play.”
Moments later, Mariota hit Deebo Samuel for a 4-yard touchdown. The Commanders botched the 2-point try and still trailed by 16.

During the president’s visit to the booth, he also discussed his own football career. The hosts shared a laugh with Trump when they asked him how many touchdowns he scored in his career at the New York Military Academy, and he said, “I’m not sure I had any, it was a long time ago.”
Trump was in Landover, Maryland, for the NFL’s “Salute to Service” event, where he read the names of new U.S. military enlistees — a first for a sitting president at a regular-season game since Jimmy Carter did it in 1978. Albert reminded him that Carter’s appearance came the same day Yankees hero Bucky Dent stunned the Red Sox with his famous homer.
It’s hardly Trump’s first brush with the sports world since returning to the White House for a second term. He’s shown up at the Super Bowl, Daytona 500, U.S. Open, and Ryder Cup — soaking up the crowds and spotlight.
“I just love it. It’s a microcosm of life,” he said. “It’s sort of like life. The good the bad and the ugly.”
Air Force One did a dramatic flyover of Northwest Stadium before landing at Joint Base Andrews. The president arrived shortly before halftime — and, as usual, stole the show.
