US Attorney Alina Habba Targeted In Office Attack
Attorney General Pamela Bondi revealed Thursday that a suspect is on the run after allegedly confronting U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, damaging property inside her federal office, and fleeing the scene — an escalation that the Trump administration is calling part of a disturbing pattern of hostility toward law-enforcement officials.
Bondi disclosed the incident in a public statement posted to X, saying an individual tried to confront U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, damaged property inside her office, and then fled the scene. She added that Habba was not injured.
The Attorney General made clear that the Justice Department views the episode as an attack on a federal official, warning that “any violence or threats of violence against any federal officer will not be tolerated. Period.”
According to Bondi, the assailant entered Habba’s office last night, caused damage, and escaped before authorities arrived. Officials have not yet released details on the suspect’s identity, motive, or the extent of the property destruction, but federal investigators are now working to track the individual down.
Bondi said the department is treating the case with urgency amid what she described as a growing national trend of extremists targeting prosecutors, agents, and other law-enforcement personnel.

In a follow-up post, Bondi vowed that the suspect would be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. “We will find this person, and the individual will be brought to justice,” she said. “Our federal prosecutors, agents, and law-enforcement partners put their lives on the line every day to protect the American people, and this Department will use every legal tool available to ensure their safety and hold violent offenders fully accountable.”
The incident comes as the Trump administration has repeatedly highlighted increased threats against federal officials, saying that protecting prosecutors remains a top priority for the Justice Department under Bondi’s leadership.
