Will Smith Accused Of ‘Grooming’ Male Violinist
Actor and musician Will Smith is facing a fresh legal fight after a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles alleges misconduct described by the plaintiff as “grooming,” claims that have sparked immediate scrutiny given their seriousness.
The lawsuit was filed before the new year, according to Fox News. It was brought by Brian King Joseph, a professional violinist who first worked with Smith in December 2024.
After that initial collaboration, Smith allegedly invited Joseph to join him on his “Based on a True Story: 2025 Tour.” Joseph claimed the professional relationship deepened after Smith offered further collaboration on an upcoming music album.
Smith has not been found liable for any wrongdoing. However, Joseph’s sexual harassment lawsuit directly accused the Oscar-winning actor of “deliberately grooming and priming Mr. Joseph for further sexual exploitation.” The complaint alleges the situation caused Joseph “severe emotional distress, economic loss, reputational harm, and other damages.”
“Smith and Plaintiff began spending additional time alone, with Smith even telling Plaintiff that ‘You and I have such a special connection, that I don’t have with anyone else,’ and other similar expressions indicating his closeness to Plaintiff,” the lawsuit stated, according to documents obtained by Fox News.
Joseph said he officially joined the tour during its first stop in Las Vegas in March 2025. He alleged that Smith and members of the actor’s team arranged his accommodations, assigning him a specific hotel room. According to the filing, access to the room was restricted to touring staff and hotel personnel.
Despite those safeguards, Joseph claimed that after returning from rehearsal one night, he “discovered evidence suggesting that an unknown person had unlawfully entered the room.”
“The evidence included a handwritten note addressed to Plaintiff by name, which read ‘Brian, I’ll be back no later [sic] 5:30, just us (drawn heart), Stone F,’” the lawsuit said.
The complaint also listed items Joseph allegedly found in the room, including wipes, a beer bottle, a red backpack, a bottle of HIV medication with another person’s name, an earring and hospital discharge paperwork belonging to someone he did not know.
Fearing that an unknown individual would return to the room to engage in sexual activity, Joseph immediately contacted hotel security, according to the lawsuit.
Joseph alleged that Smith’s team blamed him for the incident. The lawsuit said he was “shamed” and informed he would be fired. When he sought clarification, Joseph claimed a Smith representative dismissed the incident entirely.
“So, tell me, why did you lie and make this up?” he was allegedly asked.
The lawsuit concludes that “The facts strongly suggest that Defendant Willard Carroll Smith II was deliberately grooming and priming Mr. Joseph for further sexual exploitation,” arguing the sequence of events and Smith’s alleged statements point to a broader pattern rather than an isolated incident.
