WATCH: Minneapolis Mayor Appears To Incite Riots, Tells ICE To ‘Get The F*** Out Of Minneapolis’
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey recklessly claimed that a federal immigration agent had no right to self-defense when he was forced to open fire during an operation in South Minneapolis on Wednesday. The mayor’s comments come despite clear video evidence showing an agent standing directly in front of a federal vehicle when the driver accelerated forward.
During a press conference about an hour after the shooting, Frey blamed the shooting on ICE without an investigation being conducted.
“We’ve dreaded this moment since the early stages of this ICE presence in Minneapolis. Not only is this a concern that we’ve had internally, we’ve been talking about it. They are not here to cause safety in this city. What they are doing is not to provide safety in America. What they are doing is causing chaos and distrust,” the mayor said. “They’re ripping families apart. They’re sowing chaos on our streets, and in this case, quite literally killing people.”
Frey then confirmed that a 37-year-old woman was killed in the incident. He then definitively stated that the shooting was in no way a self-defense incident despite multiple videos showing the agent standing directly in front of the vehicle.
“They are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly—that is bullshit. This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed,” Frey declared.
“There’s little I can say that’ll make this situation better, but I do have a message for our community, for our city, and I do have a message for ICE. To ICE: Get the fuck out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite. People are being hurt. Families are being ripped apart. Longterm Minneapolis residents that have contributed so greatly to our city, to our culture, to our economy are being terrorized and now, somebody is dead.”
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz echoed the mayor’s comments in claiming that there was no reasonable claim to self-defense.
“I’ve seen the video. Don’t believe the propaganda machine,” Walz posted on X. “The state will ensure there is a full, fair, and expeditious investigation to ensure accountability and justice.”
Frey also called for “protests” in response to the incident. As of this report, Fox News is estimating that at least 300 protesters have gathered around the scene, which is currently being guarded by the Minneapolis Police Department.
Despite the definitive statements from Frey and Walz, multiple videos have emerged showing an agent standing directly in front of a vehicle when the driver accelerated forward. The officer then fired multiple shots, causing the vehicle to crash into a nearby parked car.

Another angle shows the vehicle clearly swiping the agent at the time of the shooting. In addition, images of the vehicle show a bullet hole directly in front of the driver’s side windshield.
