NEW: Substance Sprayed At Ilhan Omar Identified By Hazmat
The mystery brownish liquid that US Rep. Ilhan Omar was sprayed with during a chaotic Minnesota town hall meeting late Tuesday has been revealed.
Omar (D-Minn.) was hit with a kitchen staple when 55-year-old Anthony Kazmierczak allegedly stormed the podium as the lefty congresswoman was giving her anti-ICE spiel, Alpha News reported, citing sources.
A hazmat team confirmed that the syringe Kazmierczak allegedly used in the attack was filled with apple cider vinegar, the outlet added.
Omar was in the middle of slamming Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and calling for ICE to be abolished when Kazmierczak allegedly accosted the lawmaker.
Days before the town hall, Kazmierczak allegedly hinted that trouble was coming. Neighbor Brian Kelley said Kazmierczak asked him to watch his dog while he went to hear Omar speak and suggested he might not be coming home right away.
“He said, ‘I’m going to this Omar thing.’ I’m like, Omar what? He said, ‘This town hall thing.’ And he said, ‘I might get arrested,’” Kelley told The New York Post.
Kelley said he dismissed the comment at the time.

“I figured it was nonsense. He wasn’t going to do anything stupid. I said, ‘Sure, I’ll walk her.’ But then the next day he said, ‘Don’t worry about it, I’ve got it covered.’ I figured he blew that off.”
Kazmierczak was later booked into Hennepin County Jail on a third-degree assault charge, according to jail records.
The disruption comes amid heightened political tensions in Minnesota. Omar, first elected to Congress in 2018, has frequently clashed with the Trump administration, particularly as federal authorities ramp up enforcement and investigations tied to fraud cases involving Minnesota’s Somali community. She is also under investigation related to a significant increase in valuation connected to a winery she owns.
No official statements from Omar’s office or law enforcement were immediately available late Tuesday. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
