BREAKING: Police Find Harrowing Clues After Feared ‘Abduction’ Of Savannah Guthrie’s Mother

Blood was found inside the Tucson home of Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother after an intruder allegedly forced entry and abducted the 84-year-old from her bed, police sources told the Los Angeles Times.

The new details surfaced as authorities continue an intensive search for Nancy Guthrie, who was taken from her $1 million home late Saturday or early Sunday. The case has shaken southern Arizona and drawn national attention because of her daughter, the longtime “Today” show anchor.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos grew emotional Monday night when asked whether investigators believe Nancy is still alive.

“Do you believe you are still looking for Nancy Guthrie alive at this point? That she could be held somewhere?” AZFamily host Briana Whitney asked.

Nanos struggled to respond, saying deputies are “just not going to give up hope” as the search continues. He confirmed Nancy is frail, has limited mobility and was taken without daily medication she needs to survive.

“She did not leave on her own, we know that,” Nanos said. “She’s very limited in her mobility.”

Sources told the Los Angeles Times investigators found signs of forced entry and blood inside the home in Tucson’s upscale Catalina Hills neighborhood. Nancy was last seen around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. She was reported missing the next morning after she failed to show up at church. Her wallet, cellphone and car were left behind.

Nanos said investigators are treating the case as a possible kidnapping or abduction but have not ruled out any scenario. He said there is no evidence so far that Nancy was targeted because of her daughter’s fame, though that angle remains under review.

“Nothing that we see is leading us that way, but we’ll never dismiss anything,” he said. “We’ll continue to look at everything, and we’ll just keep moving forward with it.”

Savannah Guthrie, 54, flew to Arizona shortly after learning of her mother’s disappearance. CNN described the call informing her of the abduction as “the worst phone call of her life.” She has since withdrawn from hosting duties at the Milan Winter Olympics and is traveling with a security team, according to reports.

The “Today” show opened for a second straight day with coverage of the case and shared Guthrie’s request for prayers.

On Tuesday, Nanos announced a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and emphasized the effort remains a search-and-rescue operation. DNA testing has been conducted, with results expected in coming days.

Nancy Guthrie lived alone following the death of Savannah’s father from a heart attack when she was in high school.

In a plea posted on Instagram, Guthrie asked supporters to pray for her mother.

“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope,” she wrote. “We need you. Bring her home.”
