New ‘TrumpRx’ Initiative Slashes Prices Of Popular Drugs By As Much As 80%
President Donald Trump on Thursday officially launched TrumpRx.gov, a new federal prescription drug pricing platform the White House says will deliver immediate, dramatic savings for millions of Americans struggling with high out-of-pocket medication costs.
The initiative is built around a series of “Most-Favored-Nation” pricing agreements negotiated directly with pharmaceutical manufacturers. Under those agreements, participating drugmakers agree to offer Americans prices comparable to what patients pay in other developed countries — a sharp departure from decades of higher U.S. drug costs.
According to the administration, TrumpRx does not sell medications itself. Instead, the platform connects patients directly with participating manufacturers, providing access to discounted pricing, coupons, or direct-purchase options that bypass traditional middlemen. Officials say the goal is simple: lower what Americans actually pay at the pharmacy counter, starting immediately.
“Last night, President Trump delivered on a core promise to the American people — ending the era where Americans pay far more for the same drugs than patients overseas,” the White House said in a statement announcing the launch.

“For years, politicians from both parties have promised to bring down prescription drug prices and make health care more affordable, but they all failed,” Trump said.
“It’s the biggest thing to happen in health care, I think, in many, many decades,” he added.
The platform goes live with dozens of high-cost brand-name medications already available, with more expected to be added in the coming weeks and months. Administration officials say the rollout prioritizes drugs that place the heaviest financial burden on patients, particularly medications that are not fully covered by insurance plans.
Among the most significant savings are on GLP-1 weight-loss and diabetes drugs, which have surged in popularity but remain notoriously expensive in the U.S. Under TrumpRx, the monthly price of Ozempic drops from about $1,028 to an average of roughly $350, with some doses available for as low as $199. Injectable Wegovy falls from $1,349 per month to similar pricing, while the pill version of Wegovy drops to as low as $149 depending on dosage. Zepbound, another high-demand GLP-1 medication, declines from $1,088 per month to an average of $346, with some options priced near $299.
The White House says these reductions represent savings of up to 80% for some patients. TrumpRx is also targeting fertility treatments, which are often paid for entirely out of pocket and can cost families thousands of dollars per cycle. Administration officials estimate that millions of Americans facing infertility could save more than $2,000 per treatment cycle under the new program.
The price of Gonal-F, one of the most commonly used fertility medications, drops to as low as $168 per pen depending on dosage. Cetrotide, another frequently prescribed fertility drug, falls from $316 to just $22.50. Ovidrel declines from $251 to $84.
President Trump is also pressing Congress to act. For Americans who receive prescriptions through insurance, the administration is urging lawmakers to pass Trump’s proposed “Great Healthcare Plan.” According to the White House, the plan would codify Most-Favored-Nation pricing into law, reduce insurance premiums, increase transparency, and allow TrumpRx purchases to be covered under health plans.
