BREAKING: SWAT Vans Seen Gearing Up Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home

Fox News reported that SWAT and bomb squad vehicles were seen gearing up and ultimately leaving the Pima County Sheriff’s Office headquarters, the primary local law enforcement agency that has been investigating the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie.

Footage obtained by the outlet showed two armored vehicles departing from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department parking lot. The deployment also involved bomb squad and command center vehicles rolling out amid the ongoing investigation into Guthrie’s disappearance.

Authorities have not confirmed if this movement is directly tied to the Guthrie case, but it occurred on the same day as other investigative activities and the release of new surveillance footage. Two sources did tell Fox News that the deployment is indeed tied to Guthrie’s disappearance.

The SWAT-related activity follows a pattern of heightened law enforcement presence at and around Guthrie’s residence after authorities released an image of a person of interest in the case for the first time. The images, which were obtained after agents were able to access residual data from a doorbell camera that had been removed, showed an individual approaching the door.

The armed person of interest was wearing a ski mask, a jacket and a backpack that appeared to be full. Investigators have not yet released the identity of a person of interest. Upon approaching the door the individual grabbed a clump of grass and attempted to cover the camera.

Federal investigators were seen canvassing the area near Annie Guthrie’s home as of Tuesday evening. Investigators could be seen chatting with neighbors before searching the surrounding areas, particularly brush areas around properties.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31, 2026, after returning home around 9:50 p.m. following dinner with relatives. She was reported missing on February 1 after failing to attend church. Authorities believe she was taken against her will from her house north of Tucson after uncovering evidence of forced entry and blood splatters that were confirmed to belong to Guthrie after forensic testing.

The latest update comes as TMZ reported that investigators now believe the suspect is from the Tucson area. They further reported that investigators do indeed believe the ransom notes — which threatened harm if $6 million in cryptocurrency payments were not made — were indeed written by the person of interest.

Authorities have not yet confirmed nor denied the validity of the ransom notes, stating only that they were being investigated seriously.
