BREAKING: FBI Releases New Description Of Suspect, Increases Reward In Nancy Guthrie Case
The FBI on Thursday, February 12, announced the most in-depth description of the suspect in 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance since she was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona home. The bureau also announced that the reward for any information leading to a breakthrough in the case had been increased to $100,000, up from $50,000.
“New identifying details about the suspect in the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie have been confirmed after a forensic analysis of the doorbell camera footage by the FBI’s Operational Technology Division,” the bureau’s Phoenix Field Office announced in a social media post.
The suspect is described as a male, standing at approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build. “In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack,” the post added.

The FBI added that the new information should help the public with narrowing down tips. Since the investigation began, the bureau has received more than 13,0000 tips.
“Every tip is reviewed for credibility, relevance, and information that can be acted upon by law enforcement. Threat Intake Examiners at the National Threat Operations Center (NTOC) and FBI personnel are supporting a 24-hour command post in which dozens of agents and investigators are assigned leads and tips to action each shift,” the statement added.
In addition to the backpack and physical description, the bureau announced that the reward for any information leading to an arrest or Guthrie’s return had been increased to $100,000.

Footage shows the suspected abductor in the Nancy Guthrie case
The latest description comes two days after the FBI released an image of the suspect for the first time. Footage from a disabled Nest camera outside Guthrie’s front door — which was accessed through residual data after the suspected abductor disabled it — shows a man dressed in a jacket, long pants and a ski mask approaching the door.
He then grabbed a piece of nearby shrubbery and attempted to block the camera before disabling it. The suspect was also armed with a holstered handgun and was carrying a backpack that appeared to be full.
On Thursday afternoon, authorities released new surveillance footage of a man with a backpack, which was captured a few miles from Guthrie’s home on the night of January 1. The new footage shows a suspect reaching towards a car before tossing the backpack over a nearby fence.
Investigators have not released a time stamp or location for the latest video, though a source familiar with the investigation told Fox News that the individual is being sought for questioning.

Investigators with the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office have maintained a significant presence in Guthrie’s Catalonia Foothills neighborhood throughout the day Thursday. Teams have been seen combing the neighborhood throughout the last 48 hours, with investigators placing a particular emphasis on shrubbery and brush areas on the outskirts of property lines.
A black glove was discovered nestled in a bush not far from Guthrie’s home on Wednesday evening. The glove is currently being analyzed by the FBI, though no additional information has been provided as of this report.
In another significant update, a white tent was briefly erected outside Guthrie’s home on Thursday morning. The pop-up was positioned over the front entrance and porch area, which is the same location where Guthrie’s blood was found earlier in the investigation. It is also the site of the doorbell camera that led to the video of the suspect being released.
Investigators were seen moving equipment in and out of the tent, though neither the FBI nor the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has provided any information as of this report.
