WATCH: Al Green Gets Tossed From SOTU Address, Has Altercation With GOP Rep. On Way Out
U.S. Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was thrown out of President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address for the second year in a row, this time after he held up a sign referencing a hoax regarding a Lion King meme posted to the president’s Truth Social account.
Green — a far-left congressman who has introduced numerous failed impeachment measures against the president — was seen holding up a sign reading, “BLACK PEOPLE AREN’T APES” as Trump made his entrance. The sign was a reference to a brief Lion King meme that autoplayed after a video on voter fraud that was uploaded to the president’s page.
The clip, which was quickly deleted, portrayed numerous high-profile Democrats as Lion King animals, though only the brief clip of Barack and Michele Obama as apes generated headlines.

Green continued to hold up his sign and disrupt the event after the president started speaking, at which point he was escorted out of the chamber.
As he was making his way out, he and fellow Texas representative Troy Nehls, a Republican exchanged words. Nehls could be seen grabbing Green’s sign, ripping it in the process, as he was escorted out.
Chants of “USA” also erupted from the Republican conference, while President Trump briefly acknowledged the ejection with a “thank you.”
Congressmen Troy Nehls and Al Green were getting into it here before the screen faded away.
Green was holding a white sign while leaving the State of the Union in protest, Nehls was visibly disgusted by his classless behavior.

The ejection marks the second year in a row the 11-term Houston congressman has been thrown out of the address. During last year’s remarks, he stood up and starting shouting at the president just minutes into the speech.
Republicans in the chamber responded by chanting “USA! USA!” and “sit down!” in an attempt to drown out the interruption. Some also shouted “get out” and sang “hey, hey, hey, goodbye” as he was escorted out.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, who was presiding over the session, intervened multiple times to restore order. He initially warned members to maintain decorum, stating, “Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the house, and to cease any further disruptions. That’s your warning.”
The speaker also addressed Green directly, telling him to take his seat. This year, Johnson did not have to get involved, as Green was quickly ejected.
Green, an 11-term congressman, is facing a fierce primary challenge and is widely expected to lose his seat in the upcoming Texas primary.
