WATCH: ABC Forced To Admit Trump Support Surging In Deep Blue City After Iran Strikes

In a moment few would have predicted in one of America’s most reliably Democratic strongholds, ABC7 Los Angeles reported that support for President Donald Trump is growing among some Iranian Americans following the U.S. and Israeli strikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader.

During a weekend broadcast, ABC7 Eyewitness News showed hundreds gathered outside the federal building in Westwood, waving American, Israeli, and pre-1979 Iranian flags. The rally came after coordinated U.S.–Israeli strikes targeted senior Iranian leadership and military infrastructure in Tehran and other key cities.

The local ABC affiliate acknowledged on air that some in attendance had previously opposed Trump but are now praising his military action.

“And here in Southern California, hundreds of Iranian Americans rallied and celebrated the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader,” the anchor said. “Some who even said they were opposed to President Trump before are now praising his military action.”

Reporter Tim Pulliam, live from Westwood, described a celebratory atmosphere.

“The group was celebrating here all afternoon,” Pulliam said. “They say what is happening in Iran is a moment for change.”

Aerial footage from Air7 showed a large crowd filling the street, chanting and holding signs thanking Trump and Israel for striking the regime. Many in attendance framed the operation as a turning point after decades of rule under Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who had led Iran since 1989.

One woman told ABC7 that Iranians are “large in numbers and they want new leadership.” Others said they believe the current conflict, while costly, could open the door to a freer future.

The remarks are striking given Los Angeles County’s political makeup. The region has consistently voted overwhelmingly Democratic in presidential elections. Yet the rally revealed a more complicated dynamic within the large Iranian American community in Southern California, many of whom fled the Islamic Republic after the 1979 revolution.

The conflict in the Middle East has intensified rapidly. U.S. and Israeli forces launched coordinated air and missile strikes across Iran, hitting military facilities, strategic infrastructure, and leadership targets. Iranian officials report widespread damage in Tehran and other cities. In response, Iran has fired missiles and drones at Israeli territory and U.S. positions in the region, including bases in the Gulf.

Casualties have mounted on multiple sides. Iranian emergency services report hundreds dead, including both military personnel and civilians. American service members have also been killed and wounded as the confrontation spreads beyond Iran’s borders.

A new Harvard CAPS / Harris poll shows President Trump getting a modest boost on the economy, helping Republicans gain ground ahead of the midterms.

The GOP has climbed 8 points on the generic congressional ballot since January, now tied 50-50 overall and holding a 4-point lead among likely voters. Fifty-two percent of voters say the economy is better now than under Joe Biden, and 51% describe it as strong. Still, most believe inflation remains above 3% and say the economy is shrinking.

Trump’s approval rating sits at 46%, with strongest support on crime, immigration, and restoring American values.

Voters overwhelmingly back election integrity measures and favor capitalism over socialism. Majorities also support key Trump policies, including lowering drug prices, deporting criminal illegal immigrants, cutting government fraud, and capping credit card interest rates.
