Country Music Legend Breaks Neck In Terrifying Fall
Country music mainstay Ray Stevens is recovering at home after a scary fall in Nashville that left the 87-year-old with a broken neck, according to a statement from his team.
The two-time Grammy winner, known for Everything Is Beautiful and Misty, was briefly hospitalized after the accident on Sunday but has since returned home. Doctors told Stevens to wear a neck brace for the next four weeks, the statement said.
Despite the injury, Stevens is still moving around and keeping his spirits up as he heals, according to the update.
The fall comes less than a year after Stevens dealt with a separate health scare. He suffered a mild heart attack in early July 2025 after experiencing chest pains and underwent a minimally invasive heart catheterization procedure in Nashville. Weeks later, he had a second procedure in which doctors inserted two stents to address additional blockages.
During that recovery, Stevens spent several days at a rehabilitation facility before returning home. He also canceled shows at the CabaRay Showroom in West Nashville while recuperating. His Instagram account later shared an upbeat update for fans.

‘Ray is out of ICU and beginning to walk the halls as therapy with a nurse’s assistance as he is working towards recovering from this surgery,’ the caption read.
‘Ray is very grateful for all of the cards and get well messages. Everything Is Still Beautiful!!!!’
Even with the new injury, Stevens’ release plans are still on track. His album Favorites Old & New is set to drop Friday, according to the statement.
The 13-track project mixes standards with new material. It includes The Look of Love, It Had To Be You and Come Rain or Come Shine, along with newer songs such as I Guess You’ve Never Been in Love With the Moon, Moving Out is Easier Than Moving On and Time Machine.
‘I had a lot of fun creating this album Favorites Old & New,’ Stevens said in a press release.
‘It really does contain a few of my favorite old songs as well as favorite new ones penned by some talented writers. I just hope Ray Stevens fans enjoy it as much as Ray Stevens!’
Born Ray Ragsdale in Georgia, Stevens has been a fixture for decades, balancing mainstream hits with novelty classics like Ahab the Arab, Gitarzan and The Streak.
