NEW: Trump Shares Several Updates On Saturday’s Iran Negotiations
In a series of Truth Social posts and interviews, President Donald Trump shared several details from Vice President JD Vance’s negotiations with the Iranian regime and outlined his plan for a blockade of the vital Strait of Hormuz.
Trump first addressed the impact of the negotiations in an early morning Truth Social post. The president wrote that the meeting “went well” and that “most points were agreed to,” but added that “the only point that really mattered, NUCLEAR, was not.”
He further stated that while some agreed points might have been preferable to continuing military operations, they did not outweigh the nuclear issue, describing the regime as “volatile, difficult, [and] unpredictable.”
In a separate post, the president announced that the United States Navy would “begin the process of BLOCKADING any and all Ships trying to enter, or leave, the Strait of Hormuz.” He described Iran’s prior closure of the strait and planting of mines as “WORLD EXTORTION” that had caused “anxiety, dislocation, and pain to many people and Countries throughout the World.”
The blockade, he said, would include stopping ships that had paid a toll to Tehran for passage. Trump added that the U.S. military was “fully ‘LOCKED AND LOADED’” and prepared to “finish up the little that is left of Iran.”
Trump also noted that the talks extended “throughout the night” or “close to 20 hours,” aligning with Vance’s description of marathon sessions. He indicated that the U.S. side had presented its position clearly, and while some flexibility was shown on other matters, the nuclear red line remained non-negotiable.
During an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Trump elaborated further on the negotiations’ outcome and next steps. He described the atmosphere toward the end of the talks as “very friendly” and said the U.S. delegation received “just about every point we needed” except Iran’s refusal to abandon its nuclear ambitions.
The president further claimed that Iran had not “left the bargaining table” and predicted they would return, stating, “I predict they come back and they give us everything we want.”
He also mentioned the potential to “take out Iran in one day” or destroy its energy infrastructure quickly if needed, while reiterating the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as an immediate enforcement measure. Implementation of the blockade, he noted, would “take a little while,” and the goal was to ensure free passage for all ships without Iran profiting from tolls.
Trump did not release specific details on the exact “most points” that were agreed upon, such as potential economic, territorial, or non-nuclear security issues.
