Reporter Carjacked On Live TV (VIDEO)
A Mexican sports reporter got the shock of his life on live television Tuesday when a gunman carjacked him during an on-air hit at a gas station, according to local reports and video circulating online.
Activo Deportes journalist Fernando Vargas was doing a segment from his car for the show “Bla, bla, bla Deportivo” in the state of Morelos when an armed man walked up to the driver’s side window as Vargas spoke with host Ed Martinez.
Video posted to social media shows Vargas mid-sentence when the suspect reaches the window. Moments later, the sound of a gun being cocked can be heard as the man pulls the driver’s door open.
Vargas stayed composed as Martinez watched in disbelief. The reporter handed over items and climbed out of the vehicle without resistance.
“The key, quick. Key, phones, and wallets, quick,” the robber says in Spanish, via Univision.
Martinez later said Vargas was shaken but unharmed. In an Instagram post, he asked for help identifying the suspect and urged viewers to report any information to authorities.
“Thankfully, he’s safe, but very scared,” Martinez wrote. “If anyone recognizes the guy in the video, please help us and report him to the authorities. This happened in Morelos.”

Vargas also serves as communications director for Mexico’s Professional Basketball League (LNBP), which issued a statement Wednesday saying he was doing well and praising his professionalism during the ordeal.
The league said it condemned any acts of violence targeting its employees.
Mexican authorities had not announced any arrests as of Wednesday. Officials said the suspect made off with Vargas’ wallet, phone and other personal belongings.
