‘QUITE TACKY’: Guests Rip Taylor Swift’s Wedding
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s star-packed Madison Square Garden wedding was supposed to be a fairytale blowout worthy of America’s most famous pop star.
But some guests are now griping that the July 3 spectacle was less royal wedding and more celebrity cattle call, complete with long lines, buffet food and champagne that reportedly ran dry early.
Swift and Kelce tied the knot inside the iconic New York arena in front of roughly 1,000 guests, with the venue transformed into a fantasy-style wedding space and a guest list that included some of the biggest names in entertainment.
But behind the glitter, some attendees said the logistics were surprisingly messy.
‘I couldn’t believe that there was a buffet at the wedding of the year!’ said one shocked guest. ‘That felt like such a tacky move.’
Another added: ‘There were slightly chaotic scenes around the food carts with all these amazing A-listers having to stand in line. It wasn’t quite what I expected. You know Julia Roberts was there. And Steven Spielberg.’
One of the strangest details was a reported system that ranked attendees from A-list to D-list, with guests told to arrive at different times based on their importance to the bride.
British supermodel Cara Delevingne was reportedly placed in the first D-list group and arrived at Madison Square Garden at 2:30 p.m., three hours before the ceremony.
Actor Bradley Cooper and TV host Graham Norton reportedly arrived around 3:30 p.m.
Swift’s longtime best friend Abigail Anderson, whom she has known since high school in Nashville, arrived closer to 4:30 p.m.
The highest-priority guests were reportedly instructed to arrive closer to the 5:30 p.m. ceremony.
A source said: ‘It was surprisingly chaotic inside. Arrivals were staggered with people having to wait for hours with nothing to do. The cocktails only started at 4pm. People literally were twiddling their thumbs for hours.
‘If you were in the 2.30pm time slot, you couldn’t even amuse yourself by checking your phone. You were just standing around like a lemon wondering why the hell you were forced to arrive so early.’
All guests reportedly had to surrender their phones upon arrival, then wait in long lines to retrieve them at the end of the night.
Before handing hers over, Joann Jordan, wife of personal trainer Rob Jordan, shared a glimpse of the transformed venue, including a large staircase covered in red carpet and surrounded by white and dark pink curtains.
Exclusive footage has offered the first look inside Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s closely guarded New York City wedding, revealing how Madison Square Garden was transformed into an elaborate fairytale venue for one of the most talked-about celebrity events of the year.

‘An unforgettable evening in New York celebrating the beginning of a beautiful new chapter for our dear friends, Travis and Taylor. Love was in the air, the city was magical, and every detail was simply unforgettable!’ she gushed.
Kelce’s friend DJ Chop UFL also posted photos from the staircases and praised the celebration.
‘The secret garden was an unbelievable celebration and experience! So happy for my brother and sister Trav & Tay Tay. Congratulations once again! Yesterday was perfect,’ he said.
Video obtained by the Daily Mail reportedly showed guests lining up to walk through a “castle door” into the inner wedding space inside Madison Square Garden.
TMZ reported the theme was Wizard of Oz meets Alice in Wonderland.
But some guests apparently left unconvinced by the execution.
A source says: ‘I know everyone was saying how it was all decked out fairytale garden-style so you’d never even know it was Madison Square Garden – but apparently this is not true.
‘When you got inside, some of the flowers, vines and garlands were wrapped so badly around the seating that they barely camouflaged the plastic bucket-style stadium seats. It was all quite ghastly and tacky. They had tried to cover up that it was a wedding in a stadium, and that failed.
‘Also, there were loads of huge fake plastic trees all over the place and it just looked bizarre.’
The theme was apparently open to interpretation, with some guests describing it as “fairground Americana” and others calling it “an enchanted forest.”
There were also pinball and slot machines placed around the stadium, decorated with pink, peach and coral drapes and gold heraldic renderings of the couple’s initials, T&T.
Guests were invited to play games including mini golf, pinball and ring toss during the reception to win raffle tickets.
Prizes reportedly included designer Dior and Chanel bags, a Cartier watch and a classic 1970 Chevy car.
Singer Avril Lavigne, who later performed karaoke, was reportedly among the wealthy guests who won a free bag.
The wedding reportedly cost Swift and Kelce at least $20 million.
The couple also made a $26 million donation to charities, including children’s hospitals and food banks.
The ceremony was officiated by actor and comedian Adam Sandler, who is legally ordained and whose daughters are major Swift fans.
Kelce became friendly with Sandler while filming the 2025 Netflix comedy “Happy Gilmore 2.”
Apparently Sandler joked that he accepted the gig ‘in order to get both Travis and Taylor in one of his next movies’ or to negotiate a good price in case he ever produced a movie about their life and love.
Swift wore Christian Dior haute couture and was flanked by her new nieces, the daughters of Kelce’s brother Jason and his wife Kylie, who tossed petals as she walked toward the groom to an instrumental version of “Love Story.”
There were no traditional bridesmaids.
Instead, Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, served as her “man of honour,” while Jason Kelce was the groom’s best man.
ABC anchor and former Clinton aide George Stephanopoulos, who spoke briefly while leaving, described the vows as ‘everything you would hope for – real, vulnerable, serious and silly’.
TMZ reported that the couple exchanged personal vows from “little books” inside the stadium.
One guest was less dazzled by the length.
A guest tells me more prosaically: ‘The ceremony was really long. Taylor’s vows took around 20 minutes to make and it was the same again for Travis.’
Most guests reportedly had to stand during the ceremony.
The source added: ‘There were only about 150 official seats which meant that about 800 people had to stand throughout the ceremony.
‘People were trying to reserve seats by throwing their jackets over them, but they got booted out of those seats by staff because those were reserved for the closest people.’
The reception featured dancing, a DJ and live performances, including Sir Paul McCartney singing “I Want To Hold Your Hand.”
But even that could not save the night from complaints over food and drinks.
A source said: ‘It was an amazing event but people couldn’t believe that the champagne ran out really early. That felt kind of astonishing.
‘There were also people who were surprised about the food. It was not great and served buffet-style with long lines if you wanted to eat.’
The source adds: ‘The problems were all because the wedding was so big. At a normal wedding, everyone knows the bride and groom, and you don’t have to stagger arrivals or queue for food because there aren’t 1,000 people.
‘Also, at a normal wedding people have a table to sit at and are then catered for. This was far more of a stadium vibe. People kind of felt like they existed to be Taylor’s audience on the day.’
One guest said McCartney’s performance was a genuine highlight, noting the former Beatle and Swift are big fans of each other’s work.
Swift is also close to McCartney’s daughter, fashion designer Stella McCartney.
At one point, Kelce also got up to sing.
‘I think it was at Rod Stewart standard,’ says the guest. ‘It wasn’t quite at Macca’s level.’
Taylor Swift and Kelce are reportedly making a documentary about the wedding, covering everything from the flowers to the backstage planning.
The documentary is expected to be sent to guests as a thank-you gift.
Whether it can polish over memories of buffet lines, fake trees and hours of waiting is another question.
For all the money, fame and carefully staged magic, some guests still walked away with one verdict: it looked like a stadium wedding because it was one.
