FBI Agents Swarm Lindsey Graham’s Home

FBI agents were seen Monday at the Washington, D.C., home of late Sen. Lindsey Graham, less than 48 hours after the South Carolina Republican died from an aortic dissection.

Video captured by media showed at least six men and two women wearing FBI gear at Graham’s Capitol Hill row house. At one point, an FBI agent entered the residence after a man wearing a U.S. Marshals Service jacket exited the home.

Later, two additional agents wearing blue-and-yellow FBI windbreakers were seen going inside. As personnel moved in and out of the property, another man wearing an FBI jacket stood watch near a large black container. At one point, an agent retrieved a manila folder from the container.

Graham died Saturday evening following what his office described as a “brief and sudden illness.” The District of Columbia’s chief medical examiner issued a preliminary ruling Sunday, finding the 71-year-old died from an aortic dissection caused by arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

FBI Director Kash Patel said Sunday that the bureau was “assisting local authorities and has made every necessary resource available” following Graham’s death. The FBI declined to provide additional comment on Patel’s statement.

Metropolitan Police Department Chief Jeffery Carroll said Sunday that his department is leading the investigation into Lindsey Graham’s death. A law enforcement source also told NewsNation’s Jackie Koppell on Monday that the MPD remains the lead agency, while the FBI is providing assistance and resources.

In a joint statement with Carroll, the office of D.C. Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Francisco Diaz said it will “take time” to complete comprehensive toxicological and microscopic testing.

Those tests are expected to determine whether Graham had any substances in his system at the time of his death.
