Shock Video Shows McConnell Dazed And Confused On Senate Floor Days Before Hospitalization

New video is raising fresh questions about Sen. Mitch McConnell’s condition after the Kentucky Republican appeared confused during a marathon Senate voting session, repeatedly relying on others to help him determine how to vote.

The footage was recorded June 4 during a grueling 18-hour vote-a-rama in which senators cast 29 votes.

In one clip, McConnell initially votes yea before a Senate clerk appears to alert his chief of staff that the senator had voted incorrectly.

After a brief discussion with aides, McConnell changes his vote to nay.

Another clip shows Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio apparently signaling McConnell with a thumbs-down gesture. McConnell then follows the cue and votes nay.

A third video appears to show a Senate clerk discreetly signaling McConnell from beneath a table.

The clerk gives a thumbs-down gesture, and McConnell again follows by voting nay.

The footage is striking given McConnell’s long tenure in the Senate and his decades of experience navigating procedural votes.

Another video shows the 84-year-old senator remaining seated for nearly six hours while the chamber continued conducting business around him.

The clips were recorded just 10 days before McConnell was last seen publicly on June 14.

His current condition remains unclear.

McConnell’s health has faced heightened scrutiny in recent years following several highly publicized incidents.

He suffered a concussion and fractured rib after falling at a Washington hotel in 2023, forcing him away from the Senate for several weeks.

Later that year, he twice appeared to freeze during public remarks, staring forward and failing to respond to questions for extended periods.

Those episodes sparked widespread concern about whether the longtime Republican leader was physically capable of continuing to serve.

Mitch McConnell stepped down as Senate Republican leader after the 2024 election but remained in office representing Kentucky.

The newly surfaced footage is now adding to those concerns, showing a veteran senator who appeared to need repeated prompting during one of the chamber’s most basic responsibilities.

McConnell has not been seen publicly since June 14, and no detailed update on his condition has been released.
